RIP Today Radio 93.5 Toronto

And completely minus Auto-Tune (although some may argue that's not a good thing):
Some critics have said legends like Young, Dylan, Johnny Cash, Tom Petty, and many others "could not sing" or "lacked vocal talent". They are wrong, of course.

Rock and Roll has always been equal parts of talent, grit, and raw energy. Those attributes aren't found in most modern acts. Way too many are just "Posers" with style and no substance. As for Radio, the Country format is now just a hodge podge of anything that they hope will boost ratings. If Kanye West and Taylor Swift decide to make a record together, it will be #1 on the Country stations...

You'd be surprised how much rural farmland there is just outside of Toronto.
My wife has actually been shopping some of that land for us to move to should a certain Republican nominee win in November.
If we did that, I'd have to switch entirely to streaming and podcasts for news and aural entertainment.

The thing to remember is, KX 96 has been Country forever now, but it's not a Toronto (proper) station.
People of Toronto who want Country have been tolerating it as their Country station choice.
It's actually just outside Toronto, intended to serve communities just outside, licenced to Ajax Ontario.
Isn't that kinda like if New Jersey were to get a Country station and New York suddenly said "Yay! Finally a Country Station!"
Or maybe there is a better example.
93.5 is now a Country station for Toronto.

The other thing about it is it's not owned by Stingray. They have a lot of experience in the format, and have a national show they want cleared in Toronto. So this may be part of a bigger strategy by Stingray.

Is 680 News Toronto not an option (even given its significant coverage area)?
