Rita Cosby- Latest Victim of her own Press Clippings.

I'm surprised that nobody has mentioned on this board that Rita Cosby was given the boot....oh excuse me, her contract was not renewed. Rita, or as someone calls her, Ms. Sucrets(sp), is the latest winner of what I call the "Connie Chung Award".
That's an award I made up for people who think they have talent, but actually don't but it takes their employers years before discovering what most viewers already knew. In an interview Ms. Cosby says she hopes to return to broadcast journalism, mentioning radio news as one alternative. Sorry Rita but you don't have the voice for radio so forget that career move. The smart bet is to either find your niche in a medium or large market as a TV reporter or teach at some college. Either that or you can try landing a job at CNN. That network once again is jettisoning personnel, maybe there is a place for you there.

i couldn't stand her becuz she was to hard to listen to. i kept thinking she must have had some major throat or voice difficulties but could never find out why her voice was so painfully raspy -it just really hurt to try and listen to her on tv

i just hope it wasn't something serious like throat cancer

I generally don't criticize news and talk anchor types - just because somebody is not to MY personal taste, doesn't mean s/he isn't a good anchor. I'm neutral on Katie Couric, for instance, who seems to have to a lot of people angry since she started anchoring at CBS.

But Rita Cosby???? C'mon. What could have been the appeal to ANYBODY? Weird voice, not attractive, not particularly intelligent, and no journalistic credentials to speak of.

I'm glad her 15 minutes of fame are over.

Never cared for her either. You're right she didn't come across as intelligent. Very Shallow as a matter of fact. I remember one time she was just frothing at the mouth showing these two girls kissing. She replayed the video over and over and kept commenting on how "Hot" it was. ::)

I have to agree with most of the comments here, but not on her looks. She looks fine on air, but in person she is really quite a stunningly beautiful woman.

Funny you should mention that - I've never seen Rita in person, so I'll have to take your word for it. But about 15 - 20 years ago, I ran a retail business in an upscale SF Bay Area suburb. A lot of local news anchors and reporters lived in the area, and came in to my store. Almost without exception, they were more attractive in person that on TV. One in particular was a local anchor named Emerald Yeh, who came to KRON-TV from CNN. She was attractive on TV, but always looked a little washed out and pale. In person, she was darker-toned, and probably one of the most beautiful people I had ever seen.
