Robert Osborne, TCM Host and Film Historian, Dies at 84

A few weeks back TCM had a night of favorite picks by Mr. Osborne hosted by Ben Mankiewicz, and I know he hadn't been on in recent months, so I had wondered if he was having health problems.

There was a short tribute at the beginning of the movies in prime time tonight. RIP.

Watched a lot of TCM programming on Osborne this weekend, mostly DVR'd. I did not realize he was a former actor, and actually was quite good in commercials, etc. He found his calling in journalism, and his love of cinema made him the perfect host for TCM. Also, reminded that he was a native of Colfax, WA, not that far from my current location. I always thought Eastern Washington was a fertile ground for talented people. Just check the communications department of Washington State University, lol. (though Robert was a UW graduate...) RIP, Robert.
