Rock bands Played Not in NYC but elsewhere In Philly, Hartford, Boston Etc

I am bored on the vermonter train for 5 hours going back up to VT today hell it a lot cheaper than to drive.. I figure this would a fun topic of what rock bands are just not played on WRXP, WAXQ and WXRK please add to this list especially New Rock, am not Dissing any station by any means... and I think this would be fun but it takes you guys to participate too. I threw on a few small rules, Has to be played in at least Hartford, Providence, Boston, and Philidelphia ETC..

heres the ones I can hit right off the bat correct me if i am wrong:

Puddle of mudd Phyco... (Ok WXRP playes it a bit..)
Jackyl.
Disturbed... older stuff mainly
Mudvaye
Killswitch engage
Iron Maiden
Deadseason.. Ok.. this one can't count but I figure I add it...
TOOL - Old... how many times can we hear the song "The pot" without playing anything old?
POD - old stuff except "alive"
Slayer...
stone sour ... Rxp play it?
Rammstein
Hinder - get stoned ?
Avenged sevenfold?
Beck.. TimeBomb... Overplayed to death in fall now non existent
RA - "especially do you call my name"

"Timebomb" still gets played a lot on G-Rock in NJ.

Most of these would be appropriate for K-Rock to play, but I would rather not hear them on RXP since they're supposed to be a more intelligent, sophisticated "adult" station. Tool and Beck excepted.

Lets face it, K-Rock Sucks. I won't listen at all, its the same narrow playlist day in and day out. Then we have the worst rock station in the nation WBAB. What a joke, rock for the gran-dad. As for my rock fix, I listen to WZBH (the beach), WJJO, KBPI, and WZMR (the edge) on the internet. They all are what K-Rock should be. But that will never happen. About now i would take the old Krock pre 2000. At least they played some metal and hard rock like Godsmack, taproot, disturbed to name a few. Are they even playing Godsmack at all?

in reference why picky on rock in NYC IMHO remember, Its gotta be Wall-street. Its a sad reality but thats what it comes down to investors. Too bad we can't go back in time or be dreaming with a magic wand and Make an FCC rule about radio: A radio station cannot invest in the stock market and has to serve more in the "Local public interest" with Live Dj's and at least 6 hours all request shows tat fit the stations format

I don't know what you guys are talking about. I just checked the music logs of both WMMR and WYSP in Philly. I've checked music logs from this past Thursday from noon till 10 PM. No indication of any Slayer nor Iron Maiden. K-Rock on the other hand did play a Judas Priest record, and plenty of Metallica, and in general WXRK's library seems to be pretty vast and very well programmed. I then checked WAAF Boston and nope, no Slayer nor Maiden anywhere in the logs. The music mix was a bit harder at WAAF, but still didnt revolve just around the metal bands.
Guys, you're going to have to do better then give us an example of a station in a smalltown in (gasp!) Delaware b/c I got news for ya - the entire population of Delaware is only a fraction of the population of New York City. Yet WZBH only reaches the Salisbury-Ocean City area....whose population is smaller then Staten Island.
WZRM in Albany? Their ratings are at a 1.2, and this is in Albany not NYC, pitiful ratings really. WJJO in Madison is down to its lowest ratings in a while, with just barely over a 3 share. Even the mighty KBPI in Denver is down to new lows in the ratings - just barely above a 2.5 share
Add up the entire population of metro Albany, Denver, Madison, and Ocean City and that comes out to about a quarter of the metro NYC population. Oh, and let's not forget the demographic and economic breakdown is different too...

love to see it when PPM comes to some of these smaller markets if it ever does, I bet it'll be a totally different story. I bet it is the money these stations get from advertising revenues that keep the stations alive.

Back to the topic what else can we add to the list for bands their is gotta be a lot more out there.

You're right. There must be a certain database where the songs are recognized, and certain songs won't get recognized if they are too obscure. That happens a lot on WFNX's yes.com website...

In all fairness to WZMR, they are a very good sounding station on a somewhat challenged frequency involved in a four way
Modern Rock war in Albany against WHRL, WQBK and WEQX, all of whom have significantly superior signals....Previous formats that WZMR has done, Modern A/C and Smooth Jazz have faired no better...

It pisses me off that no NYC station try to be a bit harder edged at night like WAAF, Boston, WCCC, in Hartford, WLZX in Springfield. Literally, I would never consider satellite in these markets. I love to try to do my 5 hour jaunting ride from VT in the evenings because of this. MORNING SHOWS SUCK!
