WWDC 101.1 DC101 WASHINGTON D.C., OH AND IT'S RUN BY CLEAR CHANNEL
 
Their stream is excellent on line and they play the best set of tunes that the Philadelphia market lacks. Unfortunately, given the recent format flips this seems to be the only option to hear alternative rock tracks, along with other alternative rock stations that stream.

That's an interesting playlist. The Fray at # 3 and OAR at # 10 on a rock station? Neither act has posted any big singles on a Rock/Alternative format just yet in the States, so I'm curious where this is from.

A good playlist overall, but some more currents would be a good idea, IMO.
 
Are you saying there not Rock? How sophisticated has it become to program a station? I wonder if the Rolling stones still fit that list.

O.A.R.'s "Love & Memories" was a decent hit at Alternative (I think it went at least Top 30)... as was the Fray's "Over My Head." Actually... "How To Save a Life" is making a minor splash at Alt right now.


Just because it's not a hit nationally doesn't mean it's not a hit regionally. I've had many songs on my station that were HUGE successes, but didn't do squat on a national level.
 
I'd hook the exhaust to a hose and place it inside the car window if I had to hear that much Greenday, any Blink, a minute of the "the" bands or that poseur metal...but that's just me.

Hey, they're not bad songs at all. I guess I'm just not used to stations having a local flavor. Most of the rock stations in my market play it by the books, and seem to use the national charts as their exclusive inspiration for what to play and how much to play it. They're also known for being real late with their adds as well.

This playlist is still good though, but if I had an Alternative station, it would play more Currents and less pop/punk garbage - the CHRs already play enough of that, so I would focus more on acts that are exclusive to the format.

I think the affair between the Alternative format and pop/punk acts has gone on far too long - my local Alternative in New Jersey, G Rock Radio, still plays the holy hell out of these bands and similar acts (Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The DIsco, Yellowcard, All American Rejects, Wheatus, etc.). Other Alternatives I have listened to don't seem to show that level of devotion to that genre, but they haven't dumped it yet either. Personally, I would rather hear Limp Bizkit than any of those bands, and I can't stand them, so that should give you an idea how I feel about pop/punk.

Just curious, Caveman: If you had an Alternative station, what would it sound like?
