Rocky Johnson, wrestler and father of wrestler/actor Dwayne "The Rock" has died at 75

former wrestler Rocky Johnson has passed away at the age of 75, he was known to the wrestling world as one half of a tag team with Tony Atlas which became the first African-American team to win the WWE World Tag Team Titles (the belts were retired in 2009 when unified into the WWE Tag Team Title which is known now as the WWE Raw Tag Team Championship, the belt it was unified with was created in 2003 to give the SmackDown brand it's tag titles at the time while "World Tag Team" titles went to Raw during the orginal brand extension era of WWE). he married the daughter of High Chief Peter Maivia, Ata who they had a son together who would become one of the biggest name in both wrestling and hollywood. his son is wrestler turned actor (and future WWE Hall of Famer) Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson. Rocky Johnson was inducted into the WWE in 2008 along with his father in-law by his son on the weekend of WrestleMania 24.

I've read that Johnson and Atlas couldn't stand each other, and that's why their reign as tag champs was so short. They were an odd team. Atlas was a bodybuilder who couldn't wrestle a lick, but had a million-watt smile and oodles of charisma. Johnson was smooth in the ring, and quick, but he wore a sour expression most of the time. The Rock must have gotten his oversized personality and great charm from the Maivia side of the family tree.
