Rolling Stone Readers Pick 10 Worst Songs of the 90's

Rolling Stone's readers picked the 10 worst songs of the 90's. I'm wondering if I should be concerned since I like the #1 worst song on the list, Barbie Girl by Aqua. I've always considered the song a joke and never taken it seriously. Plus, it's got a good hook.

Also, I like another song that made the list, Tubthumping by Chumbawamba. It's just a fun song.

Apparently, I have no taste. But I do hate some other songs on the list, such as Achy Breaky Heart, I'm Too Sexy and Ice Ice Baby. So maybe there's some hope for me.
 
Rolling Stone poseurs readers are just too sophisticated to like anything that is too popular. They are more into cognoscenti rock like AAA, alternative (before it sold out, maaaan!), anything with heavy, "authentic" folk or blues influences, Americana, etc. If you're rootsy you're in. If not, you're out.

Hence Jan Wenner's heavy handprints on the R&RHOF and their selection of artists, leaving out influential and lasting artists like KISS and Rush.

I had Chumbawamba pegged for one-hit-wonder status even while they were still thumping that tub! Fortunately, I never even heard a followup single from them.
 
I still listen to Hootie & the Blowfish to be honest. They were victims of their own initial success I suppose, but I still like them. Musical Chairs is a really good listen imho.

The hipster crowd of today wants nothng to do with Rolling Stone magazine, especially when you have true hipster media like Pitchforkmedia. The Rolling Stone magazine of today gives 3 and a half stars to the albums of some of the crappiest Pop/Rock acts garnering airplay on CHR/Pop stations.
 
rolling stone lost me by 1990.

it was an issue with about 30 pages of fashon ads in one issue.
 
Yeah, I was going to say that the Rolling Stone reader's poll every year is hardly brimming over with hipster bands.

My least favorite tune of the 90's is "What's Up?". Kill me.
 
I'm not at all ashamed to say I really liked 2 of the songs on the list.
Look, art (whether it's music, movies, paintings, etc) is HIGHLY subjective.
One man's "10 worst list" might be another's "favorites" list.

Thank goodness there's a little bit of everything out there for EVERYONE.
