RON ANGLE out in 10 days....Any insiders know why? Miss him or Dis him?

Angle overcame alot of stuff in the past three years. We all knew the odds he was against. Timmer spoke about Ron like he was the second coming to WGPA. He actually had a pretty good show and really developed it.

I'm not totally sure if it was the "car wreck" factor....but people did listen in.

I have to admit I will miss the show.

What is going on?

Angle's bombastic nature was never to my own liking. I was much more a fan of "Mayor Joe" (Daddona) in his radio tenure.

Strictly speculation, not at all based on fact or gossip: Is Angle's departure in advance of Gunther's arrival? If, as was suggested earlier, WAEB changes its morning drive program to syndicated content, would they allow Gunther to jump ship vs. pay him for a year to non-compete?

For the past year there has been heat between Angle and Timmer. It cooled down for a while but recently started up again. Angle has been trying to get fired by taking shots at Timmer on his show. If he really is gone then it's gonna be a real bad situation. I met with a fellow insider last night and heard some things that I am unable to reveal at this time. All I can say is that if this true, watch for some major mudslinging in the Media between both of them.

Gunther moving to WGPA? i doubt it. 'GPA has too many odd quirks to make this possible. first of all they need a set signon time. This nonsense of changing signon times every month makes it hard to market a show. its not their fault. its the fcc. but still.

second they gotta get rid of the polka hour at 7 am. i don't think joe timmer wants to do that.

third they need decent news and weather. wgpa hardly does any news in the morning which is a disgrace for an AM station. why isnt the producer at least doing some basic news?

A very good point about the lack of local news on WGPA. There needs to be more of an effort there. Jarret Brown was the last guy to properly do a newscast.

Both the Call and the Express-Times, and even WFMZ, for that matter, it seems to me, could be doing more to leverage their newsgathering capabilities. I know that WODE/The Hawk has the "Morning Call News Minute", but it seems to me there's a lot more news out there than can properly be distilled into a minute.
