Rose Siggins Dead: ‘American Horror Story: Freak Show’ Actress Was 43

Rose Siggins, who lost both legs at age 2 and went on to star as “Legless Suzi” on American Horror Story: Freak Show, died today in Denver. She was 43. The cause was an infection that spread through her body following kidney stone surgery earlier this month.

Born with what was then known as sacral agenesis (she later said her condition was more likely spina bifida), Siggins was one of American Horror Story‘s fourth season cast members whose real-life physical differences were woven into the old-school freak show carnival owned by Jessica Lange’s Elsa Mars. Other credits include an in-development documentary called Schlitzie: One of Us, and the 2010 TV doc Born Different: Unbelievable Medical Conditions.

Siggins’ death comes less than a year after the death of Ben Woolf, another cast member of AHS: Freak Show, who died February 23 at age 34 following a traffic accident. Woolf, who stood 4-foot-4 and played the character Meep, was struck in the head by the side mirror of a passing car at the intersection of Hollywood Boulevard and Gramercy Place.
