Rosie O'donnell new host of "The Price is Right".

You're kidding!! I hope that you are!! Rosie O'Donnell as host of The Price Is Right??!!! What a huge mess that/it will be. If she hosts, I will no longer be watching it.

Hey, might as well just cancel The Price Is Right and move Young And The Restless to 10 AM Central and move Bold And The Beautiful to 11 AM Central and expand it to an hour.

Do you have a link to this "BAD NEWS" so we can see it to believe it? No doubt it might be from a rag mag like National Enquirer, The Star, and The Globe.

There's no such news out there.

EXACTLY!! The poster who started this thread did not provide any link to the story and posted the title as such because he thinks that CBS has announced that Rosie is hosting The Price Is Right starting in September. She doesn't belong on The Price Is Right because she would be taunting any minority group available and making fun of everybody. And I won't be watching if she does host. She ruined her reputation with me a long time ago.

I'll believe that when I see it. :D I don't think CBS is THAT stupid!

I thught the rumor was that that cheeseball Todd Newton of E! was the shoe in for the job?. What's the upside for Rosie to do price is right?.....If anything I would think maybe she'd do another daytime talk show, plus I dont see CBS courting the controversy that is "View Rosie" at this point. Not that she'd be railing against Bush on a game show but she's still perceived as controversial, especially for the blue haird old bags that are home watching the Price is right.

The Hollywood Reporter article says something about the host being named on May 16th or May 17th on either The Price Is Right's $1,000,000 Spectacular or on Bob's special celebrating his 50 years on TV.

What I'm hoping is that Todd Newton gets it. I don't think for one minute I can handle George Hamilton hosting The Price Is Right.

For the viewers of "The Price Is Right", I hope Tood Newton is chosen because of
his experience hosting shows like "Hollywood Showdown"(which is currently
rerunning on the "TV Guide Network") "Whammy!" on GSN, and doing a
version of this show in Las Vegas which i understand has gotten good reviews,
if the other two finalists are selected, the show's ratings will suffer, and CBS
might want to prepare for some changes in the daytime schedule, which i'm
sure some affilates would be happy about, especially for those who have local
news at 12 Noon daily.

Singing along with the choir here...

No it's not and don't, Kenwood. No credible news source has ever reported this. Rosie might have wishfully said she'd love to be Barker's successor - and I vaguely remember her saying something like that while she was busy with that talk show of hers. But her being part of the gang on "The View" - until June, at least - kept her out of the running from the start. She was good for Barbara's bunch, after all.

As to that Hollywood Reporter item, my thinking was that CBS/Fremantle would announce on May 16 at the Upfront. However, Mark Steines is set to tape one more tryout on the 14th so they might not be ready by then to declare. As it is, I think this has dragged out too long. I mean, six months??? And they have to start taping Price Season 36 in about a month or so just to stay ahead.

But that's just me.

If Rosie was named host of the Price is Right it would have made news by now and I haven't seen anything.

Rosie is too controversial to host such a program. The producers would hire Regis before Rosie.

Sorry but I just don't believe there is any creditability to this so-called story.

I agree, celebs hosting are usually disasters. Give me real game show hosts! Newton might be OK. Anybody know what happened to Mario Lopez?

It Doesn't Matter Who Hosts The Price is Right. After Bob Retires it WILL be Cancelled within 1 year. NO MATTER WHO you put in there. Bob Barker IS TPIR. Without Bob there is No TPIR!

All three of the potential replacements listed are about as exciting as a 2x4 to the back of the head.

George Hamilton is a great pick for the 60+ crowd but nobody under that age knows or gives a damn about him.

Todd Newton's lamer than a thoroughbred with 2 broken legs and cheesier than a box of Velveeta, and the wall-to-wall Anna Nicole coverage on ET has given me a conditioned vomiting response every time I see Mark Steines on the tube.

Where's Rolf Benirschke when you need him most?

Rumors like this have a way of getting started
by press agents hungry to earn their keep by
generating publicity for their client(s). Rosie
is such a controversial figure right now that I
wouldn't give "TPIR" even a year if she got the
job.

My pessimistic side tends to agree: "TPIR"
won't last more than a year without Bob Barker,
no matter who gets the job. However, I'm not
convinced that "Bold And The Beautiful" will go
to an hour; there doesn't seem to be any sentiment
among the producers or the cast for it. But as Bugs
Bunny once said, "I COULD be wrong, you know."

BTW, I saw in "Parade" yesterday that Bob plans
to devote his time to raising money for more spaying
and neutering facilities (before saying this, he quipped
that he was going to start lifting weights and run for
governor of California).

Probably getting his name changed to something more palatable for TPIR? :D Replacing him on the daytime "Wheel" with Bob Goen was a step sideways, not up.

TV is a business before it can be anything else.
TPIR will survive, and last MORE than a year, unless there is a new gameshow that can also show dozens, if not millions of "ads" for cars, food, etc. and still maintain an audience.

The actual retail price of this game show is...priceless!
