Roy Wood Jr. Says He’s Leaving Comedy Central’s ‘The Daily Show’

yeah, which will happen first, Comedy Central finding Trevor's replacement or them finally canceling the Daily Show due to being unable to find a suitable replacement for Trevor.

The problem isn't *finding* a replacement for Trevor. There are plenty of skilled comedians who would do the job if the money was right. Part of it is finding the right comedian, because not everyone has the personality to host a multiple-night-per-week late night show. (For example, Chelsea Handler used to host one before, and she expressed a strong interest in hosting TDS back when she guest-hosted last winter.)

The real problem is whether there's enough audience for Paramount/Comedy Central to continue TDS in the first place, as more and more of the 18-49 audience transitions from "linear" TV to streaming. No value for them to lock in a permanent host and then have to cancel the show and buy out the contract.
