RTV to come to the SF Bay Area KUNO-TV

Tribune has just annonced that they will start a new classic tv network in January, could they drop RTV for the new network? And have they picked up RTV yet or are they still simulcasting KTNC? Any word when they'll show up on Dish and Directv?

No, because KUNO is silent as it's in an ownership change from Pappas (Titan Broadcasting) to another person. Once the ownership is finalized, the station comes back on the air as RTV Bay Area. KTXL FOX 40 in Sacramento which previously had The Tube (2005-2007) and LATV (2008-2010) will have the new Antenna TV network when it launches by the end of the year.

Refering to a TV station in Fort Bragg as "Bay Area" is really a stretch. The Bay Area is considered to be the 9 counties that ring San Francisco Bay, and Mendocino is not one of them.

KUNO-TV?????

Nobody in the bay area can picked up this station. It's in Medocino County and so far up north that their signal won't be able to pass south of Cloverdale CA.

KUNO has been silent since last Halloween. The agreement to sell the station to Jeff Chang et al didn't happen until July 2010, and wasn't approved by the FCC until last week. Chang has until 10/31/2010 to bring the station back on air or the license is forfeit.

Any word on if the station is back on yet? Also, KTNC is now running ThisTV on 42.3, I think It really doesn't matter what they have on the OTA signal if its not on cable, like This TV is on Digtal Cable in Sacramento and the Chico/Redding Market.

Back in 2008 or early 2009, Retro TV showed KRON-TV4 as an affiliate, with RTV on channel 4.3, but this never materialized. Now 4.3 is silent, and RTV does not list any San Francisco affiliates. I guess since KUNO-TV is officially in the San Francisco market, they might try to make it appear as a Bay Area affiliate. That's pretty far-fetched since no one here was ever able to pick up KUNO-TV. If anything, they picked up KSBW-TV8 from down in Salinas/Monterey. (Both KUNO-TV and KSBW-TV were on analog channel 8 and now are also assigned digital channel 8 ).

If Channel 8 from Fort Bragg starts on-air again. How are they going to penetrate the bay area population if their station is located north of the bay area. Also, what cable position its going to take? 11? 30? 31? or Digital 100 channel?

Again - the "Bay Area" consists of the 9 counties that border San Francisco Bay. Fort Bragg is not in a Bay Area county. Cable and satellite companies are obviously under no obligation to carry KUNO. I hope they do, because more choice is always good, as far as I'm concerned. But I wouldn't hold your breath.

KFTY Santa Rosa showed up in the Bay Area on Comcast cable a couple of years ago. But again, that's in Sonoma, which is a Bay Area county.

If I remember correctly, KFTY was assigned to channel 199. It's hard for me to remember, because, frankly, I rarely watch KFTY. It doesn't really offer any programming I can't get on a dozen other local Bay Area or basic cable channels. Yet another opportunity to watch AFV, Frasier, or Everybody Loves Raymond. Not too exciting...

Today is the due date for KUNO to return to the air.

KUNO is now KBQR.

Is KBQR on the air?
It hasn't shown up on the Dish Network and I haven't found any additional information about this channel on the internet.

The FCC has ruled that KUNO, now KQSL, can be excluded from Comcast service in the Bay Area (as requested by Comcast). This was based on the fact that KQSL provided no over the air signal to any of the communities in question, and did not provide any programming that specifically served those communities. This was in spite of KQSL's argument that they would provide aisian programming that would serve segments of the communities. This would be a blow to what was apparently the business plan for the station.
