Fairness Doctrine
Once again, TS Bench is spot on target. The Fairness Doctrine can be compared
to rent control: while both policies mean welll (on paper, at least) as written,
they are both bad laws, based on faulty methodology. For rent control this means
people with high incomes living in housing, where the price is kept artificially low.
For the Fairness Doctrine - it assumes that the public is either stupid, or clueless.
Regular Fox News viewers, for example, know the bias that Fox News uses as its
presentation. Similarly, Air America listeners knew the same about their
presentation. Call it "preaching to the choir". I would maintain the bulk of participants
at a political rally are there because they already agree with the candidate/party's position.
(yea, you got that right!) Very few are going to rallies on both sides, as they are undecided...
