According to the C-SPAN Radio departmenr, they have confirmed that they drop Sirius Radio (effective 2/14/07) due to Sirius wants to preampt C-Span channel for the sports events, which C-Span does not agree on it, but C-Span will be avilable on XM Radio and Internet.

I know these are only rumors at the present time, but IMHO, not that I listen to that station that much, but there's quite a few other channels that I'd rather see go before Revolution. A 90's rock channel? Doesn't Alt Nation (First Wave to a lesser extent) & Octane play enough? It needs to be nitched even more? And they want to change the Standards channel again? This would be the third time. What kind of consultants does Sirius have?
I'm just waiting for Sirius to start running commercials on their music stations, that will be the day that I cancel my subscription.

Good god another rock station, I was pissed when they took away the swing channel, and put swing on the Standard channel, now you have to listen to to 9 realy bad standards just to hear one swing song. I have been with Sirius pre Stern, almost 5 years now, it seems like all the changes that are going on are for the Stern folks, who jump on when he did

FRANK MOVES TO A NEW BIRD: Frank Sinatra has jumped from XM to Sirius Satellite Radio.

"Siriusly Sinatra" will replace the current popular standards channel, "Standard Time," on Sirius.

Licensing the name from the Sinatra family estate, Sirius says the channel will include a weekly show hosted by Nancy Sinatra, material from the Sinatra archives and a show "hosted" by Frank Sinatra himself, who died in 1998.

That show, "The Chairman's Hour," will use archival material, spoken and sung.

Nancy Sinatra will be at Sirius today for the formal unveiling of the new channel.

XM originally licensed the Sinatra name, calling its own popular standards channel "Frank's Place."

Last month, when the license expired, it changed that name to "High Standards," with no change in programming.

Jonathan Schwartz, who programs High Standards for XM and is one of the country's foremost Sinatra experts, has said there will be no change in the Sinatra content of that channel.

Sirius' popular standards channel has tended to focus more on hits, while XM's channel has concentrated more on the golden-age sound, up to cabaret singers of today.

Under the new name, says Sirius, the channel will now feature "blocks of Sinatra music."

Nancy Sinatra said the new arrangement with Sirius "gives us the opportunity to create unique and broad programming never heard before on radio. Siriusly Sinatra brings my dad's voice into the future of audio entertainment."

She said the arrangement with XM was made "when there was only one network operating."

First, we have confirmed that a relatively high-up Sirius Canada employee has stated that, at least for Canada, they are losing ABC News and Talk, EWTN, ESPN Deportes, and Hot Jamz. It should be duly noted though that counting what they say they are gaining and losing, it evens out. They are required under Canadian law to cap the number of total number of channels available at 10x the Canadian programmed channels, and they are maxed out currently, so any channel additions require one to be deleted as well. Sirius has a decent DJ lineup with many of the former MTV V-J's, Howard Stern and others, but I have to wonder why it seems they lag so far behind XM when it comes to variations of formats. For example, XM has 4-5 different Top 40 style channels while Sirius only has one. XM has a 90's channel whereas Siruis's consists of the 90's and now. I'd consider jumping to Sirius if they broke some of these formats down into several stations with slightly different flavors instead of just one channel devoted to each Genre.

Many of those videogenic talking heads may have helped inspired today's dj's to get into the business in the first place. Like it or not, MTV revolutionized how we think about music.

And I'd like someone to pose and honest answer to my question...does anyone know why Siruis has so few choices instead of breaking down formats into various niche sub-formats like XM does. For example, XM's 6 or so top 40 channels to Siruis's ONE??? Makes no sense to me. Even Muzak does better than that

Oh please. Anybody inspired by Carson Daly doesnt belong on the air. I like the jocks on the Channel 21, the Alt station, Ch 26 has decent jocks but none of them standout. The idiot factor on Faction is sickening however.

Did I every say Carson Daly? Still, I bet you would not scoff at bringing home his paycheck. Perhaps Stern is an idiot too? I'd trade him paychecks in a heartbeat.

You may not realize this, but the Nina Blackwoods and the Mark Goodman's of the MTV age really did enspire many to pick up the headphones and try to entertain and educate the listeners about the music they were listening to.
