Rush Limbaugh taken to hospital in Honululu

He likes fine cigars .. they may be enjoyable to smoke but they are extremely destructive to the heart. Like smoking a pack of cigarettes in one sitting

Smoking is likely just one thing on a list of unhealthy things this guy does or has done.
You mean "this guy Rush" or "this guy josh" or "this guy jerry367?" cause we all likely do things that one day will lead us to some health concerns. The main one being "living."

I wasn't aware that Jay Marvin was sick. I certainly disagreed with him often but I'm sorry to hear that. He has participated in this board in the past; he is very knowledgeable and loves radio. All the best for his recovery

"What should we do IF...?"

I'm hearing from owners and GMs of Rush Limbaugh-affiliated stations, asking "What should we do IF...?"

What-seems-to-be-causing-concern is the dearth of condition updates.
Terse statements about Rush "resting comfortably" are unnerving.
Team Limbaugh is media-savvy-enough that they'd at least release a quote from -- or smiling photo of -- Rush, if they could.
But the silence is deafening.

Regardless-of the-degree-to-which any-among-us, personally, aligns-or-doesn't with the viewpoint espoused during Limbaugh's act:
a.) we should all remember that it IS merely an act, he's A PERSON, who does A SHOW; and
b.) because it is radio's biggest show, this particular person means a lot to us all, collectively; and
c.) we should all wish him a speedy recovery.

If only there was more encouraging information-flowing-from, ironically, the-hospital-in-which many Dittoheads deny-the-president-was-born.

Re: "What should we do IF...?"

Today, just the previously scheduled best-of. I'd have thought there would be a press conference by now. Certainly something should be said before Monday's show, or by whoever subs on Monday's show.

A heart stent or bypass can sideline him six to eight weeks from what I understand. Of course there have been scares and one long absence before (whether the deafness would have forced retirement and the several weeks of drug rehab) so the possibility of life without Rush has at least been thought of.

Should the program end, all bets are off. Premiere would certainly put something in the noon to three slot, but who knows who it would even be. I'm sure there would be other launches as well.

I'll agree with Holland that the affiliates definately deserve an update as soon as possible.

Actually, that's the reason I logged back in.

I was thinking over the past hour or so that the Premiere pr team press releases were the usual non answer answers. You could be in a coma and resting comfortably. You could be ready to leave the hospital but staying to assure all the bases are being covered and in the process resting comfortably. It's such a weasel word statement. And interestingly about a guy whose who persona is transparency, get it out there, don't sugar coat it, we can take, don't be politically correct, don't hide the details. And no, I'm not trying to kick him while he's down.

So then I thought for sure that affiliate relations would be doing behind the scenes work to assure affiliates what to expect, what's going on, anything to allow them to prepare for whatever the news is. Apparently not. Since it's a three day weekend, are they waiting until later this weekend to assist stations with some closed circuit information?

But generic statements for this period of time seem bizarre.

At this point, one can surmise that something seriously happened to Rush Limbaugh.

It could have been a heart attack and at this point they may be deciding whether angioplasty or something other procedure would be the best route... It's also possible that he had a massive heart attack and the damage to the heart is so significant that he may need a new heart. I'm just guessing what could be happening.

There is literally nothing online anywhere...even the Fox News website. Very strange. Anyone know if Mark Davis, Mark Belling or Mark Steyn have recieved a phone call to fill in Monday?

You're aware that he has been on a diet this year? if Oprah struggles with weight and goes up and down that's ok apparently
Actually, no. I only knew he still appeared to be fat.

It's not okay for Oprah either. I wanted her to succeed in keeping the weight off.

I can't edit what I said but it should be "say" he can eat what he wants.

I do hope he'll recover and that his health will improve. I rarely listen although I do enjoy his show when I do. The last time was at the beach. Everything he said about Obama that week, Obama had it coming (that's from someone who wanted what Obama wants and believed Obama could change things but pretty much knew the results would be what we have now). But he criticized the extreme right hosts who promoted hate, and that makes him a better person than those people.

I wish Time Warner hadn't taken his show off cable. There's a number I can call but it won't do me any good unless lots of us protest. Meanwhile, I know I'll forget Monday, as I did today, so how can one tape radio like they could tape TV with a VCR? I could have even used TiVo, I guesss, although I don't think that channel shows up. I wonder if I could add it?

LIMBAUGH SPEAKS

CNN just ran audio of Rush speaking.

He described his experience, and offered, "Don't mess with it. Any time you have chest pain, turn it over to professionals right-off-the-bat."

He added, "based on [treatment] I've had here, I think there's nothing wrong with the American healthcare system."

He called his hospital stay comfortable, "almost like a hotel."

Angiogram showed "no heart disease," and that there's been "no damage whatsoever."

He didn't take questions.

word has it on an industry message board that this whole thing is a stunt designed to pump up Rush's rates for some new network thing he's doing, that's why the hospital and the radio network atr laying low..
when it's revealed to be a lie, they don't want their hands dirty

Pills AGAIN !!!

It would be nice if you had some evidence or proof before you spout your mouth off about something you know absolutely nothing
about, Rapking...

The facts are: a person 58 years old can get "chest pains" from:

A good meal. (indigestion...)

Sudden weight loss (Rush has lost a considerable amount of weight this year)

Stress (like he doesn't have any, huh?)...

I think it's just sad that some people are just so hung up with their political ideology that they have to jump to conclusions on this type of stuff.;..Why don't we all wait for the medical reports to come out, hmmm?

Oh, please! Message boards are about as accurate as this one.

Which means...not much.
