Russ Cassell (formerly of WFBC-FM Greenville)

Hello all.

Since this board, and the members of it are such a fountain of useless (yet
very cool) information.. I have one more "Where are they now"? Thanks to the
board I have learned the whereabouts of some of my favorite DJs from all over
SC. I grew up in Greenville, but also lived in Beaufort, and went to USC..
so I have been lucky enough to hear great talent from all over the state.

Anyway, a guy my parents used to listen to all the time (and me too a little)
was Russ Cassell from WFBC fm back in the 80's. He also did the Clemson
Tiger pre-game show. Has he stuck around Greenville - or has he moved on like
alot of radio folks do?

thanks,

Kitster

The last I heard about him was about ten years ago and he was doing a morning talk show on WORD 1330 in Greenville and also had his own production company as well where he did many advertisements on television for companies all over the state.

Oh and also he does a commentary segment every evening on TV 21 WHNS...Forget what it's called, though. I believe it is about 5 minutes long.

It's called "My Word with Russ Cassell".

Russ recently survived a cancer scare and is now heard on WORD/WFBC-AM and 106.3 in Greenville. He is still going strong. People seem to either really love or really hate him.
