Russell Gasparian, host of the Armenian Radio Hour for 63 years dead.

I first heard the Armenian Radio Hour on the late, lamented WRIB. It was on from 9:30-10:30. My great-grandfather used to listen to the show every Sunday way back when & loved to hear his native tongue & music from what I understand.

One more person the Rhode Island Radio Hall of Fame is going to have to recognize posthumously.

One more sad loss for locally originated radio that actually tried to serve its local audience.

My thoughts and prayers to the surviving family and friends.

I worked with him at WRIB in 2 stints there.I'll never forget his AMC Pacer with the mag wheels. Russ had Big Ange's flamboyance on the air, but knew to the T what his audience wanted. If memory serves, he started out at WHIM-and was on the FM, too!-before later moving to 1220.

Here! Here! I hope the R.I.R.H.O.F. does acknowledge him.

I think the article said he started out at WRIB, then went to WHIM then back to WRIB. I also thought I heard he was on some F.M.. Maybe it was long-lost WLIV/107.7.
