In the late 1940s, she was the only woman working on radio documentaries for CBS’s Edward R. Murrow. In Los Angeles, she was a pioneering newscaster and anchor.

Grew up watching Ruth---one of the reasons I never thought there was anything unusual about a woman doing the job. I can't remember when I didn't see her on TV---probably because she'd been on Channel 2 since five years before I was born.
