Sailor-turned-DJ got his 15 minutes of fame on "Carrier"

I got a laugh out of that article (not having seen the "Carrier" series). Some comments:

If military people are "having their first cup of coffee" at 10 A.M. they're living a life of ease none of us in 1960's-era navy never saw. Normal reveille was at 0600 (except Sundays when not 'engaged') and by 1000 we had half a day's work done. And, oh yeah, that didn't include the 4 hours spent on watch overnight. That time just came out of your sack time.

Life on a carrier, especially a nuke, is a cruise ship compared to WWII-era carriers and is not even close to the hardships faced by smaller ships like destroyers. About the only guys I'd call "hardship" are the flight deck crew. That's just downright dangerous and nasty.
