Saint Joe's basketball games will move to WFIL and WNTP

This has been news for about a week or so. WPEN, where St. Joe's was, got Villanova. Way to be current....
I didn't see no one post this news and I know its old. I just wanted everyone to be aware of it.

I don't understand how you missed it, since you visit this board every day. I'm NOT a daily visitor to this website, and I knew about the Saint Joseph's basketball games going to WFIL and WNTP. As Rob said, this isn't news.

Who is going to be part of the broadcast team for the Hawks radio broadcasts?

Julius, if you want to be a good board samaritan, I would prefer if you would post TV listings instead. I want you to keep me inform when the last Fear Factor airs on NBC TV. And who's on Jay Leno tonight. Thanks.

As far as I can tell, it'll be Tommy McCarthy, unless he's under exclusivity to the Mets.

Tom is employed by St. Joes and would probably stay with Joe Lunardi doing the games.

From SJU hawks site.
Tom McCarthy will return for his fourth year as the play-by-play voice of the Hawks, while Joe Lunardi will enter his 17th season as the color analyst for men's basketball.
For my sake that I hope in addition to the hawks, that WFIL/WNTP will carry every game of Penn State football, men's and women's basketball and Notre Dame football if the 2 stations are going to air those games this fall. For the last few years not every game has been aired on those 2 stations.

Are there enough hours in the day for those stations to air all those games?

For your sake, you hope they air Penn State and Notre Dame football games? Are you going to keel over and kick the bucket if they don't air the games? I don't understand this "for my sake" garbage.

You are demanding Penn State and Notre Dame football to be aired on those stations. Penn State and Notre Dame both play usually on Saturdays and their games usually overlap. If that's the case, then it's impossible for those stations to air both football games at the same time.

What if Saint Joe's basketball games overlap the Penn State basketball games that you have demanded? Then what? What does you think? Why or why not?

Before posting these demands, please think a bit before typing and clicking on that "post" icon. It's not that hard.

I don't think there is enough interest in Notre Dame football to air those games in the Philadelphia market. The Wilkes-Barre/Scranton market airs those games, because there is a large Irish population there, and many of them are Notre Dame fans. In that market, I believe the games are on WEJL and WBAX (ESPN Radio 630 & 1240).

Here's a thought. Move the Notre Dame football to WNWR (1540am) and air Irish music and programming before and after. You could sell advertising to all the pubs around the area.

Of course, some will try and entrap me by saying Saturday afternoon is when RJ airs his show and that would be misconstrued as a jab against Mr. Joseph. Hardly the point!!! Changes in the schedule could be made to accomodate RJ. I'm sure the 1540 listeners will not miss whatever show RJ replaces.

I am one of those who miss having Notre Dame on a Philly station. Frequently when the Saturday games on on, I'm on the road, thus missing the TV coverage. The games are almost always on WFAN but sometimes reception can be a bit rough in my area.

But there is no way you can have Penn State and N.D. on the same station on a weekly basis. And Penn State is on CC in Wilmington on WWTX, which has reasonable reach into Philly and what seems like a three hour pre-game show. That should take care of those fans.

I would contact WPEN 950 AM and Greater Media Philadelphia and get them to air the Notre Dame football games every one this season on one of their stations. Contact Info: http://www.sportstalk950.com/info/contacts.shtml and http://www.greatermediaphiladelphia.com/
