Sale of WLIE to Starboard Media Foundation (Relevant Radio) is Canceled

This is apparently not 'new' news, but I've learned that the sale of WLIE to Relevant Radio has fallen through due to funding issues by the purchaser. The station continues to carry Business Talk Radio programming, apparently on short term renewals until a better LMA deal or new buyer can be found.

As FYI I originally came across this information via a post on a Wisconsin Bulletin board talking about layoffs at Relevant Radio. There was a single reference to the sale being canceled, which I was able to confirm.

The Henry's loved that format, and if they could have made money on it, the station wouldn't be on the block. Great format, but Long Island just didn't seem to care, no ratings at all. That wasn't the first failed news/talk format on Long Island, and its a shame we cant' sustain it.

I have to wonder how much of the bailout was due to "funding issues" and how much was the new CEO coming in and seeing that some moke was ready to spend 15M for a 2500 watt AM, a studio and that Islip tower site.
