Last week on Thursday 2/26/2026 from the beginning of La Bodega de la Mañana on 93.1 Amor, I checked the playlist that they adds Salsa Romántica and Merengue Romántico songs like:

The playlists of Amor and La Mega are getting harder to discern from one another. Could this be Amor's response to La Exitosa shifting away from baladas to salsa and merengue?

That's right La Kalle. La Exitosa is shifting away from baladas to salsa and merengue. So here's the four spanish-language radio stations in NYC:

1. 93.1 Amor is playing bachata AC with salsa romántica and merengue romántico.
2. La Exitosa 98.7 is playing dance music with salsa, merengue, bachata and freestyle music and hopes we get spanish-language dance music like Ricky Martin, Shakira, Chayanne, Gloria Estefan, Paulina Rubio, Thalía, Jon Secada and more...
3. La Mega 97.9 is playing tropical mix with freestyle music at noon.
4. X96.3 is playing tropical mix.

That's right La Kalle. La Exitosa is shifting away from baladas to salsa and merengue. So here's the four spanish-language radio stations in NYC:

1. 93.1 Amor is playing bachata AC with salsa romántica and merengue romántico.
2. La Exitosa 98.7 is playing dance music with salsa, merengue, bachata and freestyle music and hopes we get spanish-language dance music like Ricky Martin, Shakira, Chayanne, Gloria Estefan, Paulina Rubio, Thalía, Jon Secada and more...
3. La Mega 97.9 is playing tropical mix with freestyle music at noon.
4. X96.3 is playing tropical mix.

And sadly, New York City continues to lack a REAL Mainstream AC station ever since "Que Buena 92.7 (WQBU-FM)" went off-the-air on January 20, 2022. I am also disappointed with the playlist that "Luna 107.5 HD2 (WBLS-HD2)" provides, because they have a very limited playlist with a few repeated songs, and they play most Luis Miguel songs than Cristian Castro's. Luna 107.5 HD2 is only available for car owners that have an HD Radio installed on their radio, it is not on the classic FM radio frequency.

Long Island (Suffolk/Nassau County) have a Spanish station that plays Spanish Soft AC songs, which is called "Long Island En Vivo 1440AM/93.3FM (WLIM-AM)". They have such a huge playlist of Spanish romantic songs, but sadly the station's transmitter is so far away that failed to cover the Queens/Brooklyn area.

Look man, while I truly compart your sentiment, the reason is clear: there's no money in such a format in New York. I'd actually love for there to be both Amor and Qué Buena in New York competing against one another as Spanish ACs, but if advertisers won't go for one, then they sure as hell won't go for two.

Why can't NYC have a Spanish AC station again?!

We are not talking about Spanish AC. We are talking about Spanish latin dance music on La Exitosa 98.7 to be played and like I said:

Gloria Estefan, Chayanne, Jon Secada, Barrio Boyzz, Enrique Iglesias, Ricky Martin, OV7, MDO, Thalía, Las Ketchup, Paulina Rubio, Kabah, Belanova and more... are latin music dancers like Caliente (1995-2006) the former TV show on Univision and Descontrol (2007-2012) the former TV show on Telemundo.
