Samford Inks Deal to Broadcast Football & Men's Basketball on WZRR

http://www4.samford.edu/belltower/070213/new-radio-home.php

Kinda speaks volumes about the lack of success Cumulus is having doing CHR in Birmingham, doesn't it?

I'm happy that my alma mater has inked a deal with a 100KW blowtorch, but we're still talking about a middling D-IAA football program (albeit one with a darned good coach with a lot of name recognition) and a men's basketball team that hasn't made the NCAA's in 13 years.

Maybe they can bring back that great morning show from last year with the "classic rock format". That was a great success too!

This might have been a better spot for UAB's athletics given the bigger local class size and the format itself. Not that they're getting harmed by being on Hot 107.7, but there are fans still haven't forgotten about the Blazer basketball game (vs Memphis?) getting dropped for Whitney Houston death coverage.

I have to agree with you on that Nate,I think that UAB athletics should be on 99.5, Because most urban's or urban AC's do not carry sports shows unless It's black collage, and I agree with you that the format fits the Brodcast. A lot of UAB students that are not heavy Hip Hop fans listens to top 40 music, If It's 99.5 the vibe or 103.7 the Q.
