San Francisco Radio Coverage Of San Francisco 49ers' Thomas Herrion's Death

Last night (August 20th), San Francisco 49ers rookie Thomas Herrion collapsed and died in the team's locker room shortly after the end of a pre-season game against the Denver Broncos in Denver.

I wonder what kind of special news coverage this story received on San Francisco's radio stations.

I suspect that since KNBR-680 and KSAN-107.7 simulcast the game, they were the first to break the news, given they had some people in Denver.

Being that I live out of market, I am unable to comment on actual radio coverage, but I am shocked KNBR doesn't have any news of this on their website. I know in some cases stations don't update their site over the weekend, but I would think a sports station should update it constantly to keep their listeners who might not be near a radio up to date on any breaking news.

It was the first story on the front page of their website on Sunday, with complete coverage and a tribute on their NFL page:

What would happen if KNBR's air staff started blasting the 49ers for being poorly managed and made up of over-weight rejects and talentless players with no hope of winning? This should be a fun season on a station that runs scared of a team (the Giants) that is six games away from the playoffs with six weeks to go.

After the crap about insulting Caribbean ball players, how far will they go in criticizing 49ers players and management this season?
