Satoru Iwata, President of Nintendo, Dead at 55

Nintendo’s global president Satoru Iwata is dead at the age of 55, the company announced on Sunday.

Iwata, a longtime employee and ranking executive since 2002, was the fourth president in Nintendo’s history, most recently named CEO of North American operations in 2013.

“Nintendo Co., Ltd. deeply regrets to announce that President Satoru Iwata passed away on July 11, 2015 due to a bile duct growth,” the company said in a statement.
