Savage dropped by KNEW due to CC management being pressured by Rush&Hannity?

I have a feeling that the decision of KNEW to drop Savage came from upper Clear Channel management under pressure from Rush/Hannity . Savage has been very critical on his show to Clear Channel owned Premier Radios Rush and Hannity. Since these fake freedom of speech champions Rush and Hannity egos could not take the criticisms by Savage they went to upper manangement to get him dropped.

Possibly my favorite post of the year....It's amazing (or not) what people convince themselves of. Rush and Hannity???? Why would they even CARE about Savage??? Get off the Fan bus and check out the real world. It's about business...and money.

He had dropped from #3 to #23 in the ratings and was costing them a fortune. As Savage himself would say, "end of story."

Then explain why he's on KSTE, another Clear Channel station. Michael Savage is probably on dozens of CC stations around the U.S.

How about Glen Beck, Savage recently criticized Beck from Fox News and the 12:00pm Talk Show on KNEW-AM.
What was the recent ratings for Beck on KNEW?

Did WOR in New York City and WKIP in Poughkeepsie ever pulled the plug on the "Savage Nation"? I didn't listen to the podcast in quite some time, because it was not available in the podcast section of KNEW's website.

All the issues about Savage's podcast on KNEW came from Savage, and his demands. The station always wanted to furnish all of them and archive them, but Savage fought it tooth and nail. He wants people to go to the network site, so he gets a cut of the money.

Yep. I get it. Savage is an embarrassment to the conservative causes. Rush, Hannity and Beck are not. Funniest thing I've heard this year. Savage is indeed at the bottom of the creep well, but he is scraping the bottom side-by-side with his accusers.

The intrigue dreamed up in the minds of those on these boards? Fascinating.

Did Rush and Hannity make angry phone calls to Clear Channel, demanding that the syndicated afternoon/evening host be pulled off his SF flagship? Why didn't they scream about KSTE, also owned by the company, running Savage? Did they scream, demand, calmly ask, send an E-mail, make a phone call?

Nah, the story is likely what SFStatic alluded to, earlier. Savage cost CC/SF a pretty large chunk of change - he had a separate local deal from when KNEW brought him over from KSFO in the first place. Quite possibly 7 figures...just for the SF local clearance. Savage got that money in ADDITION to whatever TRN is paying him for the national show. It was a big deal at the time.

You don't pay 7 figures for a show that falls that far in the ratings...especially in the current economic conditions.

Why did KSTE hang onto him? KSTE isn't paying him additional money. They're a standard TRN affiliate.

Its funny because Savage was not only going after Left wing activists in Marin but he was going after Rush, Palin, Hannity, Beck, and Murdoch for commercializing the Right Wing. Jon Stewart went after Rush, Palin, Hannity, Beck, and Murdoch for being Hypocrites.

The reason most of us believe that is because of the rage Savage has expressed during his time at CC/SF because savage accused Rush, Beck, Hannity, and Palin for being puppets of Murdoch.

I don't see Rupert Murdoch as a hypocrite - if for no other reason than he's admitted that he's all about the money. No doubt he's a conservative, but he plays coy in interviews, and has said straight out that he's not as conservative as "people would think" (paraphrase).

The most successful capitalists find a need and fill it. There's been a significant percentage of the population that believes the news media is slanted toward the liberals. Murdoch saw the need for a right wing alternative, and filled it, with great success.

Remember - this is the 'conservative' who's early success in business was based on sensationalistic tabloid news rags that featured bare-breasted women. Programming on the (regular) Fox network regularly pushes the envelope in terms of sexual content and violence.

Please check your tin foil hats at the door. It was about money and sagging ratings, period. KNEW stuck with Savage through the autism protests, the Mexican protests, etc. being picketed, and spammed with thousands of angry emails. They wouldn't drop him because of Hannity or Rush, or for any other reason. Clear Channel is all about money, period.

And you are missing one key point of information: Any evidence that Rush, Beck, Hannity, Gov. Palin, or any other conservative media figure actually cares about Savage's rants, on-air or off-air.
