Savage to leave show (lawsuit v. TRN)---WRKO plans?

Fybush mentioned how the sudden dropping of Savage from TRN with the lawsuit "victory" caught his many stations by surprised and it's said for now many will stick with TRN which I'm guessing may just have various hosts in the slot, OR they could offer Kuhner, Savage's #1 fill in, that slot. He has wanted to go national. Some like WRKO may take Levin or other shows. It has been said Savage will be off the air for quite some time; don't know if RKO would pick him up again once he gets a deal.

Savage did a video webcast last night and not sure what he said but he may wind up having to resort to that till he gets on air again with reg. radio. http://www.ustream.tv/channel/thesavagenation

So, "victory" but he's off the air for "...some time..."
 
Savage's webcast last nite was unique. He let it be known that when he was with TRN he was being censored and didn't like it. He said this court case with TRN cost him and his family dearly and financially it cost him $900 grand. The webcast had a few bugs but overall it was good. Savage was relaxed and on fire. I don't know any talk show host who doesn't hock a book - levin is high on the list, howie too and ingraham is always hocking books and other paraphernalia and limbaugh is always hocking 2 if by tea.
 
I always noticed that someone was pressing the dump button on him. And not to bleep out any "dirty words" either. Annoyed me a lot. Either hire the guy to do his thing or don't hire him. I never got the constant use of the delay during his program. TRN hired him knowing that he's controversial. Reminds me of Howard on "regular radio", always getting the dump button. Of course, some of Howard's were so called "dirty words" uttered by guests.

So silly. Iran wants to wipe us off the map, the debt is over $16 trillion and we're worried about someone saying "dick" on the radio. The US is upside down sometimes.
 
Broadcasters can learn something from Savage, and no I don't mean the right wing wacko tirades.

He does relate-able very well. It's almost like a different guy when he's not doing the schtick
 
They should cut the last hour of Howie out- Howie from 3-6..... He's great and all, but he isn't that appealing to listen to that last hour. I have NEVER listened to the last hour of howie in fact. Love the guy--- but that last hour is unnecessary. Play Savage Live from 6-9pm....!!!!

What they should do, if they (have to keep) Howie on till 7pm. Fine, in that case, there is a LIVE syndicated talk show "Free Talk Live" (Genesis Communications) that's on weeknights 7pm-10pm. That's what they should do. Because I know a few people (not my friends!!!!) they are (real) listenners, (General listener) The general listenner will not know that Mark Levine is taped. What if the listenner want to call in at 9pm. (The show is over at 9pm!!!!) But the average listenner does not know of this.
That is what these Program Management should look into. Rather just fill the slot and not know about the program
possibilities for 10pm-1a (Jim Bohannon, or Alan Colmes) both of whom are (LIVE) at those times

Savage is currently off air pending a new deal. There's a chance he may move his show to noon. He'd like that.

Howie makes money for RKO... this is why they were so eager to bring him back. Otherwise they'd tell him to go to some 5,000 watt AM station and try his luck there. They sell ads. It's not practical for a station like RKO to throw away money. The last hour IS necessary because they still are in drive time. And sometimes there's interesting local politics. If you don't like that last hour, there are alternatives. And now with the new arrangement with Sox/Celtics/WEEI (i.e., bumping one team
when there's a conflict to 850, NOT RKO) you won't have Howie pre-empted by the VERY
exciting Red Sox or Celtics pregame.

It's all economics. Remember when they expanded the Sox pregame to an hour? They found they couldn't sell a whole hour so they cut back to half an hour. Money.

If that's true, they should put his show on WRKO, (LIVE) 9pm-Midnight.
As I said few days ago, for a Major Talk Station in a Major market, there's no reason (not) to have LIVE programming on (Local or Syndicated)
except for the hours of ??? 6am-8am or 6am-9am on a Saturday/Sunday mornings. Other than that, there are a lot of great shows out there, most (LIVE) or Taped.
 
Not sure if they have a contract to run Levin...who is also from Cumulus (squeeze out Doyle?) Whatever, don't expect them to cut an hr from Howie. 6-7 is drive time = $$$
 
I think, what they should do is
7pm-9pm (Put Jen Brian on there, or another Local Live Host=Call it ?? "WRKO Tonight" talk about the latest News, Sports, and Entertainment, have something good on there.
9pm-Midnight "Michael Savage"
**What they should've done is put on "America Tonight" with Kate Delaney Midnight-4am, and 4am-5am "Talk Radio Countdown. They should've did that Monday -Thursday Midnight, and Friday into Saturday put "Coast To Coast"
"America Tonight" is a great show. Like when Doug Mcentire hosted "Red Eye Radio" Very simular but much better!!!!

I don't think they'd go local past 7 pm except maybe temp. like what they did a couple yrs back:
maybe Joe Battenfeld politics on Friday nights. It sounds like a good idea, yes but they may
figure listenership goes down at 7 once people get home. (WTKK did used to have a local
host in that slot--Michael Graham, McPhee etc)

Coast 2 Coast is popular and maybe they're obligated to run it as a part of carrying Rush.
 
Wondering about fate of Batchelor, currently syndicated by Cumulus weeknights in what will become Savage's slot and heard on Cumulus O&Os in NY, DC, etc. WTKK has it here. Do they syndicate both and run it at a diff time somehow? Does Cumulus drop Batchelor and if so, does WTKK pick up
Savage or does he go to RKO?
 
John Batchelor's show would be perfect for GCN. Heck, maybe he'll end up over at TRN!
 
and in closing. Like I said. WRKO should do like this
-weeknights-since they can't end Howie Carr early. ok.
