Scott Muni, Percy Sutton To NYSBA Hall Of Fame

The legendary disc jockey, who spent three decades at WNEW-FM - and would end his 50-year career with a stint at WAXQ-FM - as well as the co-founder of Inner City Broadcasting, have both been posthumously been inducted into the New York State Broadcasters Hall Of Fame. There will be an official ceremony on June 28.

Whenever I think of Muni, I think of a day many years ago when I was at the WNEW offices on 3rd Avenue, and went into the men's room. While standing at the upright toilet, as they say, another man walks in and takes his place beside me. I glance up, and it's Scott. Talk about interrupting one's stream! I was startled. Never met the man, but I grew up listening to him. Certainly wasn't expecting my introduction to happen under such circumstances. And felt it probably wasn't appropriate, under the circumstances, to shake hands. So I nodded, he smiles back, and we continued with our business, such as it was. I'll never forget that day.

After what Percy Sutton did to WOWO, he might be enshrined in the Indiana Broadcasters Hall of Shame.
