Scott Pelley no longer CBS Evening News anchor; will focus on 60 Minutes

That post is written wrong, the article says CBS has name Mason the fill in host and haven't named a permanent one.
As of this evening the lead-in still featured Pelley's name and photo although Mason did the talking head routine.
One disadvantage CBS has here in Phoenix is that both NBC and ABC run their evening news at 5:30 local. CBS runs theirs at 6. By that time most TV's are probably tuned to one of the indies for syndicated entertainment shows.

I assume you mean CBS, not CBC. I don't think Scott is a Canadian. But bottom line, Pelley is still a CBS employee, and he will be a major part of 60 Minutes. There are worse gigs.
Bingo. People are finding they can get caught-up with the news in ten minutes of surfing the internet. They no longer need to sit through long commercial breaks for reverse mortgages and incontinence products.
The internet can be a valuable resource for news ... if you choose your sources wisely.
Yeah. Someone forgot to tell Pelley he was no longer the anchor.
I would think that he figured it out when he found his office empty.
Or they are preparing to set him up as the anchor for their Comey coverage. That would actually be a smart move right now. (as in, we still like Pelley, just not as the evening anchor...)
Agreed. And I was also surprised to see him today (6 June).
If anyone believes Anthony Mason is the new anchor for the CBS Evening News, get a grip. No. He is temporary.
Pelley's replacement will be announced at some point, perhaps not soon, but certainly before the fall ratings. CBS is laying low on this, and for good reason. They don't want to be the news right now because of what is going on with Trump.

I don't know how much this means but my TiVo, when I recorded Steve Hartman as I do every Friday, said "CBS Evening News with Scott Pelley". And he was there.
Update Jeff Glor, Charlie Rose and Gayle King are taking the Breaking News seat at CBS News and CBSN to cover the mass shooting in Virginia where one of the victims is a member of Congress. I know in past threads that in other cases that Scott Pelley's job to take the lead at the breaking news events.
Jeff, Charlie, and Gayle were already on the air with CBS This Morning when that news broke... hardly a surprise, or even a change.
yeah, if it breaks during the morning news shows hours, then the morning show teams will cover the breaking news.
biggest examples are 9/11 which happened to unfold while Today, The Early Show (what CBS called their morning show at that time), and Good Morning America were on the air.
another example is the July 7, 2005 London bombings, which all 3 morning shows were on as the details were coming out.
NBC coverage of 9/11 was originally Today Show hosts, Matt and Al and others. Tom Brokaw arrived about an hour or so later. The same on ABC, where Peter Jennings arrived after the fact. CBS also brought Dan Rather in, again about an hour later. CNN's coverage was somewhat different. Aaron Brown wasn't scheduled to go on air for another few weeks, but was called into duty, and he handled it pretty well. Welcome to the big leagues!
I was hoping there would be rebroadcasts of some of this live coverage a year later. If there was, I missed it and it has never been on since. Is it true all this available online?
Back on topic, for some reason on some nights when I turn my TV on shortly after 7, Scott Pelley is on. His news starts at 6:30 and ends at 7. I had a theory that maybe the story was so big they added a second half-hour, but Lester Holt hasn't been bumping "Jeopardy". Another possibility is that my affiliate is airing a 7:00 newscast now. Thy used to do a local newscast at that time, and maybe they still do.
It's really not on topic at all.
