Scotto Makes Fool Of Himself Over Jill Carroll Story

Anyone who might have listened to Scott Allen Miller this morning on WRKO would have been reminded of that old Buck Henry talk show host routine where he says he hates dogs, apple pie and motherhood in order to generate calls.

This morning, Scotto tried to generate controversy over Jill Carroll's exlusive story to her paper, The Christian Science Monitor, over her 82 capitivity in Iraq.

Scotto attempted to say that because her head was not cut off Carroll must be a terrorist symp. God, she even ate chicken and rice in the home of her captives.

I know it is summer and the calls fall off but that is no reason to make a fool of yourself as Scott Allen Miller did this morning. I expect more out of Scott who is generally more intelligent than that.

Maybe, it was just a bad Monday for him.
 
Actually, The CSM wasn't HER PAPER. She was a freelancer with no press credentials. The Monitor claimed her after she made headlines. Basically, she was in a war zone collecting information to sell to any interested third party: doesn't that make her a spy? :eek:
 
I've seen pictures of her... She's no Erica Kay, that's for sure.

Could Scotto be drifting into more controversial talk to keep listeners who might otherwise tune to O&A?

Gotta have listeners in the first place to keep them.

That morning show should be re-named "No Man's Land".
 
That is sad if Scotto is grasping for controversial straws to keep his show alive. Don't think he is getting any advertising support from the VERY cheap Entercon people.

Wouldn' t be surprised to see Scotto jump ship if KOX or XKS get their local act together with a signal that can be heard.

Don't see any openings at 96.9 or BZ nights. Would be a shame to lose a developing talent.
 
The good news for Scotto, Casablance, this thread is the first press he's had in months. Maybe he's hoping the Christian Science Monitor will give him some ink. He's not a bad guy but he's on a sinking ship that sunk months ago - they're just in denial that the game is over.
 
I like the fact that Scotto really knows his way around the town almost as a native. That was always one of Jerry Williams big complaints about new talent in this city - that they wouldn't know or try to learn anything about the city in which they worked. As Jerry would say, ' they couldn't find their way to Eggleston Square'. Well, I am a native and I might have a bit of a time finding it but he made his point well as he usually did.

Scotto is on a sinking ship. Only hope he has a life jacket.
