That does seem likely. The Key West, FL LPTV could become a translator for either WSFL-TV, or WPXM-TV in Miami, FL & the LPTV in Palm Springs, FL could be used for the Scripps subchannels.
In Palm Springs, CA that could be a Translator for KPXN-TV/ and KILM Los Angeles. I understand that some of the LA TV Stations may reach Palm Springs via translators and cable such as KOCE, KCET and KVCR. At one point KCAL-TV and KTLA reached Palm Springs via cable or translators but that may not be the case anymore.
So far Palm Springs has no local Ion Affiliate and the translator in question is meant to get KPXN to reach the Palm Springs area.
The closest thing to indicate that KPXN could have a translator in Palm Springs has to be related to when Los Angeles TV stations were commonly covered on cable at one point.
