Scripps News hires NBC’s Jay Gray to serve as senior national correspondent

Jay Gray moves from NBC to Scripps as a correspondent for the outlet.

The E. W. Scripps Company has hired long-time journalist Jay Gray to serve as a senior national correspondent for its streaming news channel Scripps News, the company said on Monday.

Gray has covered major breaking news and events around the world during his 22-year broadcast career, most of it spent with NBC News, where he appeared on local NBC stations and affiliates and on national broadcasts like “The Today Show” and “NBC Nightly News,” Scripps noted in a press release.

“Jay has spent his career on the front lines of some of the most important stories of our time,” said Matt Simon, the Vice President of Scripps News. “As we broaden our national presence and strengthen our ties to local communities, Jay’s expertise and precision will be invaluable.”
