Keep in mind, I've been involved with message board software since 1997. I know the limitations of many of them and how I want to integrate with our other products. It's not so much with board features as most are similar, but creating the best user experience encompassing all of the site platforms.
1998 here. I remember using WWWBoard, Delphi Forums, etc way back yonder. One board I ran in the 2000s was on the free InvisionBoard (Before it went pay) and vB and I had some custom stuff on them, like a chat window on the bottom, a game section for posters to compete, random link thing, etc. I enjoyed it but RL took precedence and when it slowed down, I got out of the board business.

You aren't old until you've moderated FidoNet conferences and USENET newsgroups. (And I don't mean by forging Approved: headers. ;))
Don't forget the old dial-up BBSs! But getting the train back on the rails message board tech gone a long way from the BBS days to the current systems like XF that's used here. Hopefully a board platform is found or tweak to add/integrate the other stuff to the board. A good integration would be connecting the board to Radio-Insight. Example would be linking the stores over there to threads here - sure that's already being thought about. Be better then the comment sections over there.
