Seattle-Tacoma Radio Ratings: February 2023

Other than what everyone else has already said, I don't see anything really surprising about this book. It's interesting that 106.9 is as low as it is, I can't remember if I've ever seen them that low. It's interesting that all current based formats went up this month.
Wasn't that long ago. Dec '20 - 3.4 share. Jan '21 3.6 share.

KVI has been ahead for the last 5 surveys:

Agreed, but for at least a couple years or more before that KTTH was higher, and KVI was almost unrated for a couple books, at least in 6+.

I’m not sure if I am correct, but I think KVI has added more local programs and has some more recognizable hosts. If they have improved their lineup, that would definitely give them a boost.

I would agree with that statement had we seen KVI suddenly take over the lead within a couple books of Limbaugh's passing. The question is what happened over the summer? Limbaugh has been dead for a year or more, and we just saw KVI take over the lead in October.

Limbaugh died February 17, 2021.

^^^^ It sort of reinforces Bobcavdav's point. Although Limbaugh's passing obviously affected conservative talk radio, the audience has nowhere else to go but the same stations that were here before he died. Seattle has had three conservative talkers for nearly a decade (KTTH, KVI, KLFE) and a fourth was added a year or two ago (KPTR 1090), but the only ones which have gotten ratings were KTTH and KVI. So I wonder why there is a difference. Maybe the difference is irrelevant because the low ratings are within the margin of error. Still, it is a curiosity.

It's human nature, think about it: If a drug addict's dealer suddenly dies, the addict goes in search of a new dealer.

Let's keep this in radio... ;)

The LA Philharmonic will loose Gustavo Dudamel in two years. I will not be looking very hard for a while at whomever they name as new conductor as I found Dudamel exceptional and invigorating. I just will not be attending. Dudamel brought so much new spirit and invigoration to "the classics" (particularly his support of new composers) that I just don't think that the next act will ever equal this one.

I don't know. When Jim Jones died, his cult members didn't go looking for, Oh wait! Too soon?
I'd say the different is; in your example the cult member killed themselves, not seeking to injure or kill the Vice President, or other Congressional members.
Of course, I heard about both on the radio....David. ;)

I caught a documentary on him while on a flight to Ireland last year. The kind of energy he brought to his performances was incredible!

KVI has done a good job improving their daily lineup of programming, and it makes sense that they are seeing some improvements in the ratings. KTTH shows signs of consistency. Both stations may see a bit of a bump during the hours of noon to 3 without a familiar voice on KIRO.

1590 and 1090 both air national (and in my opinion, uninteresting) programming.
