Ed Sciaky (Rest His Soul), clearly one of the best classic rock-n-roll DJ's of my generation. LONG LIVE ROCK!!!. To the point. Ed Sciaky had a specialty radio program that was great(Sunday Night Classics?) on what was then "94 WYSP CLASSIC ROCK AND ROLL" during the late 80's and early 90's. It was a FANTASTIC program and I liked every minute of it. I would like to know what he used for the "Bed" for his introduction into the show. It was an accoustic track with classical guitar in the mix. Does anyone remember? I may not have the name of the program correct either. It is all good. I would like to purchase the music to add to my personal library. Have a Great day! Thanks in advance to all of you Philly rockers who know what I am talking about! Terrestrial radio rules!! Go HD!!!!!! JMD

wcradio2 THANK YOU !!!!!!!!!!!!!! That was the name of the program. Dam I miss those days when the suits lets the "Boss Jocks" do what they wanted on the air. Ed was a " radio pioneer" as we all know. Thanks for the info !!!!!!! JMD

Possibly "It's A Beautiful Day" , the duo that sang "White Bird". They played in Wildwood this summer with the Jefferson Airplane and Big Brother & The Holding Co.

The program was indeed called the Sunday Night Alternative. It was first broadcast on WIOQ as they began moving away from their Adult Contemporary period, back to the AOR format they were known for in the mid to end of the 70's. In 1987, Ed was let go from WIOQ after it flipped to oldies, and hired by WYSP for afternoon drive. For a period, the company that owned WIOQ would not let Ed use the title SNA, claiming intellectual property. After a few wrinkles were ironed out, Ed had the right to start using the SNA title once again at WYSP.

The instrumental he used to open the SNA each week was Embryonic Journey by The Jefferson Airplane. It was performed by guitarist Jorma Kaukonan(sp?) who later went on to form Hot Tuna. A previous poster may have had The Water Song by Hot Tuna confused with Embryonic Journey, because they were both performed by the same guitarist. I hope this helped.

Thanks for the song name.
You know what was great about Ed Sciaky? Every time I went to a concert, he was there. Didn't matter what venue, what state (in the tri-state area) I saw him at the Keswick, Tin Angel, North Star, you name it, he was there.
Also, I see Michael Tearson at all those venues. It's great to see the old guard out there actually supporting what they do and what they believe in. I like the fact that these guys are not robots and still like to see as well as hear the music they play.
Sure they go out to see the dinosaurs that have been around forever. But I see Tearson at a lot of shows featuring new artists as well.
