The first e-skip openings of the summer (after the early May aurora and the massive fluke Es opening in January). So far I have 6 new but I have some unid clips to be posted which should boost this number.
This will be my last E-skip season in Yakima, as I am moving to Valley County ID (either McCall or Cascade) at the end of July 2024. I got a full-time teaching job in Idaho! No more subbing anymore
First opening was in the morning. Woke up from a peaceful sleep to San Diego on FM through 98.1. Then went out and got, via the TEF-6686 (FIRST Es opening on this firecracker of a radio):
9:19AM - 94.1 KMYI San Diego PI 1228, RDS. 96.5 KYXY San Diego PI 51CE, RDS 'Kyxy965'. Both relogs, 77KW and 26.5KW respectively, 966 miles.
9:20AM - 98.1 KXSN San Diego, CA; commercial for car dealer in El Cajon, RDS 'Sunny981', PI 4E9D. Relog, 26.5KW at 966 miles. At the same time I was tracking an unid Spanish station on 93.5, sounded non-commercial (Sonora?) and another SSer mixed with KXSN briefly on 98.1...the closest in Mexico seems to be Navojoa SON, way down by Sinaloa!
9:23AM - 95.1 KTTI Yuma, AZ; PI logged 4422, RDS 'KTTI'. Relog, 50KW at 1014 miles, too many times to count. They and KLJZ 93.1 (also tentatively heard) are so common on Es here.

I was focused on getting new stations and not logging the same stuff I've heard before from San Diego and L.A.

9:30AM - 92.3 KRRL Los Angeles, CA; RDS 'Real 92.3 L.A's Home for Hip Hop', PI 1EA9. Relog, 42KW at 864 miles. This is the most-common Los Angeles station I get, even more than KLOS. At the same time I had public radio talk on 90.7 overtaking KNWR. This was very likely KPFK L.A., Pacifica's station. It would be a relog. I don't think I've heard KUSC-91.5 here, but the KAWZ translator in Yakima is strong, and I can't get a null on them 99% of the time unlike the Cle Elum KAWZ translator in Ellensburg. I have heard them in Ellensburg.
