Several Questions About Small Market Radio Stations In New Mexico

I have always wondered about certain small market radio stations in New Mexico such as:

1.) KXTC 99.9 XTC in Gallup, NM - This is supposidly a Clear Channel station? Why doesn't it have a decent website yet? What exactly is the format of this station - hot AC, mainstream CHR/Pop, or Rythmic CHR? I remember on it's old website that it mixes in songs from the 70s, 80s, and 90s while keeping up with it being upbeat or something. One more thing, what is the request line for this station?

2.) KWRK 96.1 in Window Rock, AZ (also near Gallup, NM) - I have a very cool logo from this station. What is this station's format now? Has it ever once been hot AC?

3.) KZOR Z-94 in Hobbs, NM - What does this station sound like? Anyone have an air-check?

4.) KSMX Mix 107.5 in Clovis, NM - Same as #3.

5.) KDEM 94.3 in Deming, NM - What exactly is the format of this station? Is it hot AC or what?

6.) KYEE 94 Key (94.3) in Almagardo, NM - This was once was owned by Clear Channel right? Why did it change owners and how come it doesn't have a decent website? I know that the business line is open 24 hours a day seven days a week because once I called this station late at night (around 2 in the morning).

7.) KSCQ Q-92-9 in Silver City, NM - Same as #'s 3 & 4. They have a new website at http://theq929.com but all that's there is a new logo.

8.) KSFQ 101.1 The Cat in Santa Fe, NM - This is now a smooth jazz station correct? When did this happen and when will streaming be available since this is a Clear Channel station? If no streaming, then an aircheck would be nice since they have such a nice logo.

9.) KWYK 94.9 Quick Radio in Aztec, NM - I once heard this station on a plane going to Las Vegas, NV. It is a JRN (Jones Radio Network) satellite station according to www.100000watts.com. Where can I find a copy of their logo and do you think they will ever stream their station online?

Please help clear up the confusion with these NM stations! Especially with KXTC. What in the world does that station play? Please help if you know any of these. Thanks so much!

The fly on the wall tells me that KXTC will have a website up in the very near future. I understand the template is up now, but nothing operational on the site yet. Sorry, I dont have a URL. 'XTC considers themselves Rhythmic CHR.

KWRK is now doing a satellite country format. Jones, I believe?

When XTC switched from its country format under Dave Dart is was a very eclectic mix of pop tunes. Mostly Rythmic. At the time, Gallup had 3 full time FMs doing country and 2 am stations. The only current station in the market (pop wise) was KKOR which was on the ABC Hot AC Sat. at that time.

After Dave Dart left KXTC, Bill Lee took the station more full ahead CHR/R...and from what I understand Fernie has taken to an even better sounding CHR/R.

As far as websties, the only websites in Gallup that were anygood were Millenium Media's sites for a brief period....they even tried streaming (i think that KYVA Fm and KKOR still do for whatever reason). Gallup has a VERY low rate of internet usuage in town....even lower on the rez...so really Websites are a very low priority in Gallup.

KWRK is co-owned with KTNN. Owned by the Navajo Nation. It has been MANY MANY things. Never, though (until now I understand) has one format been done at a time.

For a period, They were Hot AC during the morning and mid-day...then got CHR/R in the afternoon...then had a guy playing rock and rap requests at night...and on weekends carried a jammin oldies sat.

Until this recent flip to country, You could never really count on hearing anything on KWRK....an orginal jack (ass) fm? :)

Funniest thing to me is that all the Mr. Microphones at the Dollar Store in Gallup worked over the 96.1 Fm freq....that always made me chuckle!
