"SEXY SAVANNAH" TO BE BACK ON THE AIR IN ORLANDO

Seen in a recently published station marketing-type newsletter:"The Sexy Savannah has joined O-ROCK 105.9 to be with Bobby Smith every weekday afternoon at 3pm! Don't miss them together this Monday at 3pm ONLY on O-ROCK 105.9!"-Byron

This is so bumming...when O-Rock first came on the air in '02 or '03, they kicked crazy amounts of tail! I mean, even now, the music is somewhat better than 101-1's.What boggles my mind is why the two modern rockers in town tend to have more talk than rock! Perhaps the "high road" for O-Rock would be dropping the banter and going into some decent music! (Mind you, I'm not insulting Sexy Savannah or any other O-Rock personality)Radio-X

Honestly, I think the format is just declining overall. If there were only one station trying to net whatever modern rock listeners there are out in this market, I think the station would do a decent job. Both stations have been up and down in their shares, but the sorrier of the two, in the end, just needs to back out and try something new. I hope they're not using the upcoming HD radio side channel(s) as any excuse to not focus on their main channel or current format. No one's going to be seriously hopping onto that bandwagon for at least another two years.

It's because they had Howard Stern on the morning. The minute he left, they dropped fast.

>> It's because they had Howard Stern on the morning. The minute he left, they dropped fast. << Same thing with every other CBS station Howard was on. WOCL started dropping even before Howard left. According to the latest trends WJRR now has more then twice as many ratings points then WOCL 12+. I guess I just don't get it. With moves like this, it seems like they want to lose. And as much as I don't want to happen, don't be suprised if O&A wind up on mornings there eventually. Just more reasons I'm glad I have Sirius.

I'm glad I'm not the only one that hates the trend on rock stations with less of a focus on music and more of a focus on "personality". It's been like this with every alternative or rock station I've seen in the various places I lived. Since moving here I can't stand the DJ's on both stations, and replacing the 80 minutes of music with more cookie-cutter DJ banter means I'm not going to listen to that station on the drive home from work. The funny thing is that 104.1 on weekends, has a much better alternative playlist from past and new songs and that's just filler. And the weekend DJ is never on for much more than it takes to say what he played. I do make it a point to listen to that station on the weekends, and I can not say that about either of the so called "rock alternatives". Maybe if the playlist was expanded from the same overplayed songs, and there was less talking, they'd be better. Of course I'm not in the radio business so what do I know ::).
