SHAME ON LOCAL BOSTON TELEVISION: TABLOID NOT TAXES RE:GOV. PATRICK

Shame on all the local Boston television stations for going with tabloid 7PM TV shows rather than broadcast Governor Patrick's Budget Speech.
NECN on cable is the only outlet carrying the talk.

You fools at 4,5,7 Anna Nicole Smith is STILL DEAD.
Move on and get you hands out of the gutter.

Awe, they're just following the lead of EVERYBODY IN NEWS RIGHT NOW. Did you see SNL this weekend? The opening sketch pretty much said it all: "the heck with important real news, tell me more about the father of Anna Nicole's baby!"

Gotta tell ya, I was in San Antonio when she died, and it became Anna Nicole 24/7 in the local media. It's an epidemic!

A.N.S. was just a Wh*%*# who struck gold.
Why don't they just follow any street walker in the Combat Zone in Boston. Same story without the megabuck.

Again, Channel 4 and 5 in particular should be ashamed. Ansin junk station is just hopeless and always appeals to the dumbest audience in the Boston market.

Apparently, this is what passes for journalism these days. As I sit here, CNN, FNC and MSNBC are breaking the latest ANS ruling as if it were real news. Then again, this is what the audience supposedly wants. Most addle-headed Americans on the street have little or no interest in whether Iran has nukes, Ahmadinejad's threats to wipe Israel off the map, or what's happening with our neighbors in Venezuela.

And, something like the governor's press conference will garner even less attention. Budgets? Taxes? That's someone else's problem. I can hear the complaints now: "that stuff is boring! Tell me about American Idol or the latest on Anna Nichole Smith!!"

The local stations are just going where the eyeballs are and, in the process, are pandering to the lowest common denominator. All in the name of ratings.

Let them eat cake, right?

Yes, to quote H.L. Menchen again " you will never go broke underestimating the intelligence of the average American."
I understand this is Channel 7's Motto and is emblazoned over the front door at 7 Bulfinch Place. Perhaps, it should be renamed BULL Finch Place.

As to Channels 4 and 5. Shame.

And shame to Channel 4 and Jon Keller who spent more time on the 11O'clock news showing Governor Patrick getting out of his DTS than on the budget except for Keller's rather incipid check list of Governor Patrick's performance. Seems that Jon is going back to his old right-wing roots in a really abrasive manner.

I always had a better sense of the whole political picture when John Henning reviewed a political speech. Jon's political bent is showing through and that is not professional.

This is from a North Shore resident residing with my wife in Wellington Florida next to West Palm Beach. The coverage has been wall to wall. We were driving past the courthouse the other day and I counted 10 mobile units. The coverage is sickening, smelling of tabloid journalism. All it has done is drive us to watch BBC World Service and the CBC where one can see real news. The local newspapers are even worse.

Budget speech? That's lame. Watching the never-seen before stock footage of those double-implanted pyramids makes my day.
