Shattuck, Lobel etc (Herald radio) on lame Sports Hub stunt

http://bostonherald.com/news_opinio...ports_hubs_lame_pitino_stunt_die_outside_echo

Great-and-powerful-Tom Shattuck writes about a Sports Hub stunt where Toucher and Rich hung up on Rick Pitino. Bob Lobel is on the phone with the hosts of Boston Herald Radio's Morning Meeting.

>>Really, Toucher, that’s all you got? Somewhere Howard Stern must be shaking his head in disbelief at the hordes of sub-talented, aspiring clones he has spawned. If you believe Pitino has wronged the city of Boston and that it is your job to advocate on behalf of its fans, then be a man and take it to Pitino on the air rather than deliver a drive-by sucker punch.

Shattuck adds, "Congrats to @Toucherandrich on jumping the shark! Your laughs sound nervous"

This is all over Twitter; enter toucher and rich into the search and see. Some calls blasting them.
Others defending them saying it was hilarious.

And once again, as juvenile as it was, that stunt got everyone's attention. Looks like T&R get it: All publicity is good publicity.

Although I'd have rather them brought of his back of the restaurant stunt. Pitino is one of the biggest ******s to come thru this town. What he did to Red was despicable. He deserves no respect. Good for them. Tom Shattuck wrote that column like a man that doesnt get radio in 2013.

Piece in Herald said Fred Toucher "fielded a death threat" due to the stunt. They quote Toucher on air: "That’s my job. I don’t have any class. I’m not F. Scott Fitzgerald. I’m not Bob Woodward."

Well if you're a sports figure, in the future, you should just realize that these guys are comedy goofballs, not serious journalists or
sports experts. Be on notice that you, too, could be hung up on quickly. Do people hate Pitino? Yes, many do. But this will give them a bad rap but yeah, they get great ratings and make a lot of money so it must be OK. Right? It's just a viral thing to get attention, like when Jim Rome called football player "Chris" (as in Evert) despite being warned not to. Made headlines, right?
These guys are doing well and shouldn't have to resort to stunts though yup it got 'em what they wanted...Comedy goofballs, so get ready for a pie to be thrown in your face...so to speak. Hyuk
hyuk hyuk.

Oh please. That train left the station decades ago, when every Howard Stern-wannabe on the planet decided that humiliation was funny. If they can "resort" to it, they will. No one with an ounce of smarts blows up a winning formula.

The words "sports" and "serious journalists" don't belong in the same sentence, at least not since Howard Cosell died.
