according to the KRTH website...the ceremony is next Tuesday April 30 @ 1130am
 
...And all of the aging Baby Boomers who used to live in San Diego now living in L.A. (like me) will be there.

A hollywood star? For what? Did he do some big, worthwhile charity or discover something useful for humanity? What? Oh, he hit up his "best friends" for 30K and that's how he paid for it. Not surprising. What a waste of space.

Uh, this is the "Hollywood" walk of fame - not Mother Theresa's Calcutta Wall of Fame, nor is it the lobby of the Nobel Foundation or the UCLA Trophy Case.

It's about show business, as incredible as that sounds.

Tom Kelly has been a mainstay of Top 40 radio (including today's incarnation on oldies stations) for over 40 years including the last 16 at KRTH in the figurative "Hollywood." How many people who were playing the hits on the radio in 1966 are still radio stars today? KRTH may not be on top of the ratings but Shotgun Tom is an iconic figure who has been honored at the White House, has been chosen to MC the  2013 NAB Marconi Radio Awards Dinner & Show in Orlando, and, speaking of charity, hosted MDA Telethons in San Diego and Los Angeles for about 40 years (I remember him doing it 1975, but it may go back more than that), works for the Bob Hope USO and the L.A. Police Department's "Cops for Tots" campaign benefiting Children's Hospital of Los Angeles.

Do your friends have enough respect for you to raise $30,000 to honor your career and public service? Tom's do, and he's he's ever so deserving of it.

A true waste of space and true demonstration of petty-mindedness are comments denigrating those who've earned their success and respect.
 
Tom also hosted the kid-oriented 'Words-A-Poppin' show on tv 10. Good stimulation for young minds.

San Diego could acknowledge his charitable efforts in a small way.A sign,saluting him on his old street-
"Tommy Drive"...
