Should KGO-TV Spencer Christian go back to National TV after Oprah ends show

Should Spencer Christian and Jannelle Wang of KGO bring The View from the Bay to a National Audience? I probably think no way because the show has to be renamed and the show has to move to LA to get a bigger audience share.

Your post makes no sense. Has there been talk about this show going national? And why would it have to move to LA just to get a bigger audience share? What difference would that make?

I thought the post made no sense either because I can't think of a single reason why a National Audience would want to see Spencer Christian take over for Oprah. LOL

I don't get the audience share thing either. You could originate a show from Nebraska. As long as it's a good show it will get the same audience as if it were in New York or LA. Jerry Springer just moved his show to Connecticut last year. He's doing just as good as he did when he taped it in Chicago.

Spencer Christian did weather on ABC's "Good Morning America" for several years, i think he's happy at KGO-TV in San Francisco and probably has no plans to make a return to national television.

There is no doubt that SOMETHING will need to replace Oprah, but Spencer Christian is not the answer. ABC affiliates will demand quality here, if they don't get it, then get ready for more 4:00 local news!

Uh... What? Hmmmmm? (scratches head) Huh? I think I see what you're trying to say... I'll try translating:

"Do you think SuperDave should take over for Evel Knievel when he retires? And should he ride a moped instead of a Harley?"

My answer is NO.

Relax, people: Everybody knows that "The View" is going to take over for "Oprah."

View from the Bay is a local show, period. That's how it was intended. Local TV used to be full of these shows during local access hours on network affiliates, and on the independents. KPIX (CBS-5) in San Francisco had a show called People Are Talking for a decade or more in the 70s and 80s. These shows largely went away by the 90s when stations decided they were too expensive to produce - most of the production capacity switched over to expanded local news, especially those long morning news blocks.

The only interesting thing about View from the Bay is that KGO-TV decided to produce it at all.

too bad tyra banks canceled her show, she could of became the next oprah

I believe she would have done well outside of The CW. I don't know how well her show did in syndication before it became a CW talk show. I don't even know if Tyra aired in Chicago before CW. Her show was different from the other shows as it primarily focused on female issues (don't need to discuss specific ones)

Steve Wilkos also moved his show from Chicago to Connecticut. In both cases, it wasn't their choice, but NBC Universal who decided to move all their talk shows from their respective cities to Stamford Connecticut, for the tax incentives. From what I heard, Jerry Springer was not happy at all that he had to move his show to Stamford Connecticut, as he was happy being in Chicago. I bet WMAQ TV was glad to see him go since his commentaries on their 10pm news costed their station Ron Magers & Carol Marin (she has since returned to the station). Yes, Jerry Springer briefly worked for WMAQ-TV along with hosting a talk show in their studios (under a different production company at the time). His production company nearly sued the station for dropping what was then the #1 talk show from their station for breach of contract since they were still under contract to air the show. WFLD picked up his show the next day and aired it twice a day. Jerry Springer in Chicago has since moved to sister station WPWR-TV.
