Should KROI News 92 also air Houston Area Sports too to generate ratings?

I know in San Francisco KGO-Am(News and Information simply gets the KNBR all-sports Crew to produce 49ers games for KGO and KSAN (all are Cumulus O&O's in San Francisco). I know that WCBS-AM airs Yankee Games produced by all-Sports crew of WFAN to distinguish themselves from 1010 WINS.

Which all-sports station should KROI team up with to air sports for part of the day so KROI can get revenue and ratings.

Someone overpaid for the Astros. By the time their contract comes up again it should be cheaper. ;D

I would think carrying professional sports would hinder versus help KROI. Lots of cash out the door and lots of people looking for news getting play by play.

College games might be a nice revenue boost and since that's generally Saturday afternoons, it might not be much of an issue and some better than average revenue.

No. Sports on KROI is contrary to their strategy. Sports on radio are not big ratings generators unless you're the flagship and/or have a great team. That said, no pro teams are available. Texans, Astros, Rockets, Dynamo, Aeros all wrapped up. And if there was an opporutnity with 4 sports stations, they'd be snapped up. Even meaningful college football and b-ball teams have been picked up.

KROI should do their best to cover sports news, scores, etc. as a local news station would. But play by play is wrong strategically and financially (Radio One isn't doing all that well as a company).

I agree. No sports. For that matter, the weekend shows are contrary to their format in my opinion. I'd think all news should not include home improvement, investment shows, infomercials and even Sunday morning news program replays. Even so, I'd have some revenue goals that woulld be met before dropping these.
