SHOULD RADIO BE MANNED 24/7? SHOULD LIVE & LOCAL BE THE WAY?

in my opinion the more radio is syndicated or voicetracked the less personable it is.

for some years i have found it less enjoyable .at first i thought it was the limited playlists.now looking back i was getting tired of the syndicated shows.a lot of the short to the point dj comments i did not like because they lacked personality was probally voicetracked.

does WJJK in indianapolis voicetrack?when i was still working and the office radio was on that station shortly after the hour they would say something like "its a little after 10 oclock" but never give the exact time.

Anyone dreaming for the days of "live and local 24/7" to be mandated back into reality...is dreaming...really. Ain't coming back...no way, no how.

Voice tracking can be made to sound live if...the air talent is directed (and in some cases, taught) how to do it that way. And if the talent takes that direction to heart and tries to do it.

As far as emergency situations are concerned...having assigned staff on call is a perfect way to deal with overnight and weekend emergencies. It's done all the time in more stations than you think.

Stations will do what their profits and bottom lines allow them to do. Prove you can make bigger profits for a station with a live and local show and watch a live and local show hatch.

Just my 2 cents.
