Should There Be Alot Of Repetition on A Variety Hits Station?

Maybe I'm alone on this one but I've been hearing alot of repeat plays on WSGA-FM ("Freedom 104.7" here in Savannah) lately. Might this be because, it being relatively new, they want to attract people? I just can't fathom why I've heard alot of repeats (Soft Cell's "Tainted Love" and The Ohio Players "Fire" are just two) and *alot* of disco back to back. The "WOW! I can't believe I just heard those two songs in a row!" feeling hasn't really happened consistently. I'm not bitching, I love the format and I'm just curious as to how this playlist, and the various amount of breaks within, compare to the Variety Hits station in your area.

Every Variety Hits station (even Jack-branded ones) is different from the next.

That playlist looks as typical as one can get.

What was WSGA playing before? Did they already spin a lot of these songs? Some stations (see Mike in Boston, Jack in Regina, Saskatchewan, and any of them that were former 80s stations) have retained a lot of their playlist. Others (like WCBS or those that switched from Country or Urban) probably play barely any of their former playlist.

WSGA was Contemporary Christian as "Joy 104.7" before flipping to Variety Hits. They used Salem's satellite feed for their programming. So all of the songs they're currently playing are new for this station.

You might be on to something there. Jack in Jackson used to be an Arrow station prior to Jack. Our Jack plays a healthy dose of classic hits that used to be heard on the former Arrow format.

You are missing a true Jack station. IT cannot be duplicated without the voice of Howard Cogan and the overall attitude. It's not just about the music. Not close.
