Is it true that "Gidget" really had pretty good ratings but was pulled for "other reasons"?

Is anyone familiar with the show 'Way Out? I've never seen it. Even Wikipedia mentions that only 5 of its 14 episodes have ever shown up on bootleg videocassettes. But from what I've read about some of the episodes, I would say it sounds much more Twilight Zone-like, or possibly closer to One Step Beyond than it does The Outer Limits.

I sure would like to see more of these kinds of clips from the Philly days!

That plot definitely sounds more Twilight Zone-ish than something that would have been on The Outer Limits. It seems anthology series like these were relatively popular back in the '50s and early '60s. In addition to these and One Step Beyond, there was also Thriller, Science Fiction Theatre, and Alfred Hitchcock Presents.Corky Marlowe said:Is anyone familiar with the show 'Way Out? How weird is this? I'd never heard of "Way Out", but I stumbled upon it a couple days ago while looking for old TZ, Suspense, etc on YouTube. The episode I watched was about an actress getting called in to do a walk-on role on a TV show, and then dealing with the "night crew". Looked like it was shot on videotape, and kind of had the feel of the videotaped TZ's. Also, the host was Roald Dahl, better known for writing a book about some weird dude who owned a candy factory. The entire series apparently aired in 1961.

For good reason. My posse used to call this show "Kojerk" because Telly Savalas was reportedly scared to fly (used to buss it between CA and NY) and sucked on lollypops.
