Shuttered Venezuelan TV Station to Re-Emerge on Cable, Satellite

...Marcel Granier of Radio Caracas Television or RCTV told a news conference that RCTV's return is a victory for Venezuelan people who want its programming.

He said RCTV would continue trying to recover its equipment and free broadcast signal. As a cable station, RCTV will reach about a quarter of Venezuelan households.

There are about a dozen other independent TV stations available over the air in the Venezuelan capital. The license was revoked by the supreme court 6 years after the station's backing of the coup. If that had happened in the United States I think Bush would have yanked it off immediately ! Of course Fox news coverage made it look as if all freedom had been abolished in Venezuela.
