Sirius XM Radio CEO Mel Karmazin on 'Your World' with Neil Cavuto

"...CAVUTO: Could I ask you this, though? Does it change, not in ownership, but a combination, negate some of the contracts you have? For example, your biggest star, Howard Stern, does that make his old contract null and void?

KARMAZIN: No. And all of the contracts...

CAVUTO: So, he can't wander anywhere?

KARMAZIN: No. All of the contracts are in place. The combined company has assumed it. We honor contracts. You should assume that Howard in the near future will be available on XM receivers pretty soon, when we have the best-of package. But, no, we're going to honor..."

It's a new game, folks - that's ALL i can say!! :)

And already, personnel at two of XM's musical niche channels, Folk Village (aka The Village) and Beyond Jazz have appealed to their listeners, either on air or via newsletter, to urge Sirius XM to save those channels. The assumption is that several non-mainstream channels will have to go to make room for the "Best of Sirius" package and the FCC-mandated minority channels. Anything similar going on at Sirius? After all, Sirius is going to be getting the "Best of XM" and minority entitlement channels of its own, right? Sirius disposed of folk music and modern jazz a while back, so what's left to cut?

Well, in terms of the Sirius channels that I listen to:

1) Totally 70's
2) SoulTown
3) 60's Vibrations
4) Sirius Gold
5) Martha Stewart Living

my guess is that anyone who listens to these five channels or similar (Big 80's, The Pulse...) shouldn't have ANYTHING to worry about... 8)

AJ

i heard or read karmazin say that they will respect channels that may have small but passionate listeners. so send those emails for the ones you really like...
