SNL season debut ran long but my local NBC cut out

The season debut of SNL tonight ran long to accommodate some extra songs by a Arcade Fire but darn it, WPMI in Mobile cut away to an infomercial. I assume this must have happened in other markets too. Did NBC fail to give affiliate enough notice to stick with SNL?

Technically it's just pre-empting LX.TV First Look for the extended half-hour in the All Night block, so look for it where that show usually airs. Of course a whole bunch of affiliates just carry infomercials and such so it gets delayed to 3am in most markets that don't take the NBC schedule in late night as-is.

The Arcade Fire 'extras' aired in the Boston market on WHDH. I only watched a couple of minutes before turning it off so I don't know how long it lasted.

The extra stuff aired on WVIT-TV channel 30 of New Britain/Hartford. Of course, WVIT-TV is an NBC owned and operated station, so...

Could someone provide the time for when last night's edition of "Saturday Night Live" ended (for the Central time zone)?

After I made the first post I found the Arcade Fire special in te on screen guide for 3AM. Set the DVR but it just recorded another infomercial. ..

According to the TV programming guide for WPMI-TV provided by Zap2it, the station was set to broadcast the Arcade Fire program between 2:32 a.m. and 3:02 a.m. (Central times).

Maybe it was 2:30. I set the DVR to record 30 mins before and after the time it was showing up in the guide. Just infomercials.

Poledo, do you remember the last moment of "Saturday Night Live" WPMI-TV broadcast before they broke away for the "infomercial"?

Arcade Fire had started playing and people were forming a conga line. Some of the people dancing were wearing animal masks.
The reason I posted... It looked like it was about to get interesting.

I read on another board it was cut off in Boston too.

One more question: What "infomercial" did WPMI-TV broadcast after breaking away from Arcade Fire?

I don't know. Who pays attention to that stuff?

Is this the first time ever SNL has run long?

It didn't really 'run long'...the extension was a taped special with footage from a concert they did in Montreal a few weeks ago, so the extra half-hour wasn't really live beyond the opening.

So what this means is that when my recording ended with aracade Fire still laying, I didn't miss anything?

I don't know anything about Arcade Fire but don't believe I would like them.

There was nothing cut off in Boston. Tina Fey did the goodbyes and said that the network had allowed them to go long tonight and Arcade Fire would be playing more. There WERE some people on-stage wearing masks and it's possible a conga line was starting. She did NOT say that it would be a completely different program which is exactly what it was and which I figured out pretty quickly. The way Tina mentioned it, I thought that the cameras would cut over to one of the other stages and Arcade Fire would start playing again. I watched the Arcade Fire program for only a couple of minutes.

So I saw the entire Tina Fey episode but then Miley Cyrus got cut off.

It's not that I want to see her except as Hannah Montana but I don't like missing any of the show. I hope they do the rerun this week like they sometimes do and maybe I'll see at least some of what I missed.

And the NBC OnDemand episodes of SNL are so chopped up I can barely watch. If you missed Miley, she played a slut in every sketch.

The condensed prime time rerun had one more sketch.

I found out too late, when TiVo had not recorded it, that they repeated the whole thing in the late-night slot.

You have to either do it manually or tell TiVo you want reruns taped if they happen less than a month later. I know this is about those reruns the same week, but sometimes that's needed. I still haven't seen the "Mike and Molly" with the tornado because TiVo thought that episode actually had aired.
