So if I want 70s "Classic Hits", what do I listen to?

I guess Journey. They are switching, apparently, to a mainly 70s and 80s format, 2 90s songs an hour - so I have been told.
Great! When??? We have enough 90s music on Atlanta airwaves! I'd drop the Journey moniker.

Well, they are "Atlanta's New Home for Greatest Hits", which is their new moniker as of tomorrow - I think. Apparently they will add 70s pop songs and ballads to the mix in the next few weeks.

You can always listen to Pandora and create your own 70's channel. :) There are these things called mobile apps where you can listen on your smart phone. You can even connect them to your car stereo system...But no need to worry it's just a fad and will never catch on...Move along. There's nothing to see here.

So the station will still be called Journey 97.9? "Journey 97.9 - Atlanta's New Home for Greatest Hits" doesn't mesh. They should drop "Journey" all together.

What about late 60's Motown, the Beach Boys and the Beatles? If not, then as far as I'm concerned, they will not be Atlanta's New Home for Greatest Hits and what about my friends who live outside of 285 in Acworth, Douglasville, etc who can't get Journey? Why can't they just move AGH from 106.7 to an HD-2 and keep it the way it is now?

Nostalgia (30s/40s) disappeared in the 80s (who remembers WJYI/WJYA/WJYF Joy AM/FM on 104.1), golden oldies 50s in the 90s...time marches on...at this point you'll be lucky to get early 70s AM gold...

I can get Journey just fine in Gwinnett. Better than 100.5, I might add.

Any competently programmed classic Hits/Oldies station will still have plenty of early seventies gold; the problem for many of them is decreasing the amount of pre-Beatlemania stuff and adding more eighties stuff, of which there is a TON of which fits perfectly on Classic Hits/Oldies stations, and plenty of AC stations as well.

There's also some outstanding 70s shows great for the weekend, including those hosted and created by legends such as Charlie Tuna & John 'Records' Landecker.

Toss in Casey Kasem's American Top 40 The 1970s and 1980s versions, and you're all set to do very well with 25-54s and make a ton of $$$$$ in the process.

I say we all move up I-75 to Chattanooga! We can listen to 107.9 Big FM - Chattanooga's Greatest Hits! ;D

Big 107.9 is another Cumulus station though. However they also have a translator on 106.9 (Hippie Radio) which is more oldies than Classic Hits.

Yeah, why the hell can Chatt have this and we can't????? Their jocks on the music side sounds better than AGH. Great jingles too...This really makes me mad.....Furthermore, they are on a 25k stick and the most we can hope for is a 250 watt translator, is something wrong with this picture??????

My point was Chattanooga has two stations so if Cumulus decides to mess with Big 1079 at least they have another station. I think the reason AGH was so bad was because Cumulus set it up to fail. They made up their mind from day one to switch it to all news

And I'm glad they did. This allnews format is awesome.

River was running promo spots this morning "welcoming" former AGH listeners.

But, they don't play 3/4 of the music AGH played. They play 25 songs over and over and over and over and over again.
